8 cores aren't going to be a big die though. Look at Skylake core size with cache it's tiny. At ~100 mm^2 you can fit 4 Skyalke cores and their cache/mem controller and needed chipset.
AMD will probably be using a dedicated chipset on their enthusiast designs and full SoCs for their APUs. I think 8 Zen cores around 200mm^2 is going to happen.
The Zen APU with 4/8 cores and 12 SP blocks at 4W. Either it is clocked so very low (800-1600MHz) or I should jump on the hype train.
