Using 3way SLi bridge on a 2way SLi setup, VERY VERY strange activity, please come inside!

I have a 2 way SLi 980Ti setup and wanted to see if removing my normal "hard pcb style" 2 way single finger SLi bridge and replace it with a "Hard pcb 3way SLi bridge" with the idea that having BOTH SLi fingers on both cards having a bridge might change something...... So after bootup into Win10, i loaded up heaven benchmark, and i swear to it that there was noticably LESS stutter and seemed very smooth. BUT............... now here is the VERY VERY strange thing i noticed. My "C:\" activity was pegged at 100% even just sitting at the desktop. I rebooted and same thing. Removed 3way sli bridge, and returned normal 2way sli bridge and activity was back to normal. Shut off pc and replaced 3way sli bridge and C:\ was back @ 100% usage just sitting at the desktop.... Very strange issue. Anyone else try this and have any idea of what it going on here?

Windows 10 (and 8) report 100% usage on my boot drive frequently. I am using a single ribbon since my pcb sli bridge doesn't fit. It has nothing to do with the bridge being used.
