Nvidia will not stop producing 950s and 750Tis anytime soon as they will compete with RX460. 1050 however will only compete with RX470 so maybe by end of the year or early next year at $170 or $199.
The specs put it over a r7 370, 1.99TF vs 2.15TF. R7 370 is like 5% under the gtx 950. If it comes out 20-30% under that, there is something seriously wrong.
I'm unsure of the powerdraw of the 370, but it is a 7850 clocked 115mhz higher and the 7850 according to tpu drew 87w under average gaming load. If they simply shrunk cut pitcairn it would beat the 950 handily, and be under 75w. But this part is further cut and a different uarch, so I would once again, expect approx gtx 950 levels of performance.
Edit:also, while yes as a whole nvidia is more power efficient, at the lower levels of performance that efficiency is lost. Whereas AMD cards work the opposite. Lower tiered cards are much more efficient. As you can see by the performance difference between the 950 and 370 (pitcairn launched in 2012) and their similarity in efficiency.Edited by tkenietz - 8/1/16 at 11:24am
