[Tech4Gamers] AMD Radeon RX 460 for $99 and the Radeon RX 470 for $149 - Page 30

Basically, I don't even care anymore. I can happily spend a few bob on audio, keep my current GPU, and continue laughing at current pricing shenanigans.

may be it is because RX480 performance fall short, so AMD couldnt charge $300, because of that RX470 is also have to drop their MSRP to $180. (this is also why they are price soo close to RX480)

Polaris 11 or RX460 will have to sell $99, because if a fully enable Polaris 11 is $99, The cut down version will have to sell below that. Polaris 11 below $99 will likely lose money, so they decide to just release 1 SKU only and charge $99?

lolz. I say entire polaris is messed up. Entire Polaris line is being squeeze downward to low end with no room for price segregation between SKUs. AMD should feel lucky that Nvidia are price gauging pascal by $50 more & their founder edition.

you could see a 4year old chip being pitted against Nvidia's GTX950, how lazy can AMD get.
370 is just below 950 and 270 is faster, 270x is 11% over 950. Shrunk pitcairn or hell even giving pitcairn one more go would have been better lol

So it's not 896 shaders? Makes no sense to even have a cut p11 but if they insist it should be at most a $75 part

Full Polaris 11 is 1024 shaders.

That isn't is. Just look at prices from last generation... R9 380 launched in June 2015 at $199, the R9 370X launched 2 months later for $199

Production costs of Polaris 11 should be in line with Bonair. It may come down to yeilds and reserving full Polaris 11 for the professional cards and laptops.

If you haven't noticed, AMD is supply constrained. They are exploiting the mining craze. Polaris IS the best mining GPU by a large power efficiency factor.

I was basing my estimation off of 896 core Polaris 11.. How is 896 core 460 no better than the 260x. Makes absolutely zero sense. Overclock the 260x 100mhz to 1200mhz and it would beat the 460..

That's negative ipc gain lol

270 is tahiti, and was not rebranded to the 300 series.
370X is also pitcairn, just about on-par with GTX950.

this might be the reason why they pushed SP units up despite ROPs being kept to a low number.

oh wait, now that you mentioned it, yes it was also pitcairn.
i dunno why but i thought it was HD7870 XT, which was a cut-down tahiti.

in terms of cost per hash or watts per hash, ASIC units are a lot more productive than making a GPU mining farm.

furthermore, with the current difficulty even a 1TH unit would only net 0.038BTC or $22.56 per month at most, when would that ever break-even?
