If AIBs manage to sell the cards close to the MSRP, the RX 470 will be the real star for AMD, it'll sell like hotcakes. Forget all the news and drama surrounding the RX 480, the RX 470 will be the real deal. The 460 will be interesting too, with performance probably a bit above the R9 270, but most probably below the R9 285. Perfectly adequate for the goals they set.

I'm quite keen on the 460 for my HTPC. Agreed that the 470 should be a very attractive budget card. I'd like one to replace the GTX 470 I'm currently running in my work PC. I've got an above-average amount of free time on the overnight and I'd love a great little 1080p card to accompany the x4 845.

I'd say to some extent it depends on whether the "3GB 1060 that's further cut down with only 1152 shaders and is supposed to go for $149" is a thing or not. Though I'd boycott 3GB 1080p cards in 2016 just out of principle.

Edit: And right after I posted the above I saw this: http://www.overclock.net/t/1605829/tweaktown-nvidia-culls-geforce-gtx-1060-3gb-will-arrive-as-gtx-1050-in-december/0_30

That further confirms it, AMD won that segment, December is too late. Not that it would matter, as you said, 3 GB for that kind of horsepower is cutting it close for 2016, let alone 2017 and 2018. Nvidia is already doing the minimums with the 1060, a 1050 with 3 GB at the end of the year means AMD won by default, and to be honest there isn't much Nvidia can do about it this time around. Unless they... (gulp!) price it lower than the RX 470. I can imagine Jen contorting himself in his leather jacket at the mere thought of it though. biggrin.gif

JHH would sooner sell his leather jacket for $149 than price 1050 below $149 I'd wager. lachen.gif

The 7850 consumed twice the power and the 750 Ti is just as fast. I would know, the 960M is the same thing as the 750 Ti and I smoke the 7850 in games. tongue.gif

87w for 7850 vs 52w for 750ti

Also according to https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/AMD/RX_480/24.html
cut pitcairn is creeping up on gtx 760.
