Introduce the subscription based model to the regular Windows 10 version for users and I will be reverting back to 8.1 in an instance.

It won't happen.

This is Microsoft. They care about profits and that's it. If a couple hundred people have their lives ruined because they can't afford the subscription, it's their fault for being poor.

In the letter sent to their volume licensing customers (which we are one of), it was clearly stated that this will only be for Enterprise versions. So, if you want to run Enterprise at home, then I guess yes, you will be paying the fee.

The last 2 paragraphs of the letter stated very, very clearly this will not be for other version of Windows 10. Pro users are safe, you will not have to pay.

My management was very happy to see this since we will now be able to hold M$ more accountable for patching and hotfixes.

Wow, a lot of doom and gloom lol.

I see Microsoft offering Windows for home (or not business/enterprise consumers) for free long before they ever turn it into a subscription model.

Another question here, if Microsoft is pushing the DX-12 so hard then why would Enterprise editions of their SERVICE be needed?

Most users will be home based because business can still use Windows XP to run their businesses effectively, so again why is DX-12 being pushed if Business has no use for it?

... Do you understand that Pro has features beyond Home, such as the ability to join domains, and Ultimate/Enterprise have historically always had perks beyond Pro?

DirectX is universal, when they push it as a feature it's for all versions of the OS. Other features less so.

Which is one of the points of getting enterprise in the first place, yea.

It would, or rather, it HAS had very little effect on console sales. You can already strip down your current Windows install to the point you are talking about. The gains are minimal, and absolutely no one does it for the same reason that no one plays games with no audio drivers installed despite r0ach's insistence that audio processing gives your cursor clown shoes and renders the user limbless.

Are you sating you want a world without money? I personally agree, but if you really feel that way, you should probably quit talking about how other people should spend their money or how you are willing to personally fund massive projects.

On the other hand, if you don't want a world without money, please explain your disdain for people who are better at money than you are (you know, those corporations and governments that you yourself present as experts in the field).

$7 / mo = $0.24 / day. Where the hell is he getting a doughnut and coffee for a quarter?

@GingerJohn

Didn't read rest of replies in thread but I assume he means per person. $7 = roughly a cup of coffee and a doughnut. At least in places like Redmond, Seattle, San Francisco, etc.

Unless of course you're like me in Los Angeles, I buy a cup of coffee at 7-11 and reuse the same cup a couple of times a week for cheaper and don't buy doughnuts, making it far cheaper. tongue.gif
