Well, you can tell that to my FPS counter, which shows 140 to 160 at Ultra / Aniso 16 / TSSAA at 1080p. Plus I'm OC at 1100/1500.

I'll grant you, this game is pretty variable and needs a unified benchmark.

Good to see AMD winning a benchmark, we need them to be competitive as lately nvidia has become a distastefully annoying company for too many reasons to list. biggrin.gif

Nvidia either brings their A-game with Volta or they're playing second fiddle to the red team for a few years.

Isn't that a little too early to declare AMD the winner? DX12 and Vulkan games aren't coming out full force yet, and besides, maybe Nvidia might be able to minimize or even maintain its advantage with some drivers, etc. Give it a year, and a half and then we can see if AMD's arch will switch from a disadvantage to a advantage.

Maybe it's the fanboy in me but what I saw was how poorly AMD hardware really underperformed compared to what it should up until dx12/Vulkan, whatever. I also see this and can't help but think most of the games people are really playing are still running under these API's. I also can't help but think by the time this isn't true, Nvidia would have long since released an answer to AMD's current dx12/Vulkan advantage.

If in 2 or 3 years Nvidia hasn't closed that gap then I'd say they might start having troubles. As is they just sold another generation of 1080/1070's to the market with 1060's incoming. They have the products out there, they have word of mouth and brand. I don't know that this is enough to really put a dent in Nvidia. Maybe if AMD had a highend answer to the 1080 which equaled and beat it, but, nothing as far as I'm aware.

Well, Nvidia's next architecture is slated for 2018, Volta, will be fighting against AMD's 2017 Vega. The key to look at is DX12 and Vulkan adoption. Now, thing is, Microsoft is pushing the Windows 10 angle, and with that comes DX12 and those Xbox games that will also release on PC late 16,2017. I think within 2017, we'll be able to accurately rate AMD vs. Nvidia on architecture and until Volta pushes out, AMD may well at least be able to claim superior architecture with DX12 and Vulkan.

To be honest, unless Nvidia really tripped up with Volta, I think it is smooth sailing for it for the foreseeable future. As for AMD, it seems that it decided to make some money with Polaris, and push Vega vs. Pascal. Is it a good idea? I don't know but at least Volta isn't likely to immediately beat Vega over the head if AMD can target a early 2017 launch.

While very good for AMD GPU users, I think there would have been more thunder if the vaunted Doom would have shipped this way. It would have sold some RX 480 cards for sure for anyone on the fence at the time. I'd love to see a clear AAA game "Launch" event win as opposed to looking in the rear view mirror.

We need the perception of tighter competition in a bad way.
