Yet in Europe the stock is long gone, prices of both NV and AMD cards are raising as retailers and distributors realize they can be even more greedy than so far because the supply is so bad.
Finding decently priced 4xx is a miracle that sells out within hours.
There is 1070s stock sure but even those are going up in prices now.
1060s right now get supplied to some retailers only and others have 1-2months wait.

Someone somewhere is totally screwing up the supply to some markets. I bet they are feeding everything to UK, DE, USA, you know the biggest 1st world markets while rest gets almost no supply at all mad.gif

275+ USD for a preorder 1060/480 now.
410 for 1070...

It really doesn't seem to make much sense anymore to even try buying 1060/480 class of cards, no availability, horrible pricing and supply and the 1070s offer similar performance/price as these lower tier cards...

Even underwater with a overclock of 1435 I'm just to the level of the fury's performance on these drivers. In 4k I'm under the level of the fury. Memory use goes over 4gig in a few demanding games now. DX12 mode seems to take slightly more video memory on the games that support it. I'd say unlike dx12 benefits, 8gig benefits are still a future thing. Think gcn 1.0 owners. They are video memory size limited now but otherwise still are great cards. rx480 will take longer to get to that point than the fury. But for now, the fury is still a better performing card.

I saw reference cards are finally back in stock at several retailers with only a slight premium. That's good news.

I remember trying to get a 290 at launch, similar deal, except Europe has plenty in stock and the U.S. had none. From what i hear the 290 is still the better card for mining, so there is that...

Right next to the power plug on my XFX RX 480 GTR.

Yeah well convince the miners to use the power hog Hawaii instead of Polaris.
EU has more expensive power, much more, so the mining issue locally is not as bad but globally it is still pretty damn awful and limits supply to any market.

It will potentially seriously harm 3D performance - but only for a few games where the drivers don't recognize the need to clock up (Batman: Arkham City is the only example I know). Otherwise, what the Power Efficiency mode does is simply tweak the hysteresis value for the clock-rate so that it resists rapid increases.

So, if the game throttles the card, the card will resist raising the clocks again for a while. And, at the desktop, you will usually see perfectly flat 300Mhz idle clocks, even while watching videos. RX 480 at 300MHz is more than fast enough for desktop use, so there's no point not having it enabled there...

I just wish it was a per-profile setting so I could have it on everywhere.. and it would turn off for Batman.

Got a Sapphire Nitro 480 OC+ 8GB on the way *rubs hands*. Can't wait to put that sexy thing in my case.

Only problem is I bought from Amazon.co.uk and dispatch is 'within 1-2 months' as they aint got stock atm. But I had a voucher code so managed to get it for £237.

Weird. Mine isn't affected. 13500 GPU score in Firestrike in both 16.8.3 and 16.8.2. Not overclocked though.

Welcome to the waiting game. My 1060 order just changed to 32 days expected delivery to their warehouse. When in fact they were showing pick up today when I ordered and hoped to pick up on Monday and other shops that sell for a little more the same card did indeed get resupplied...
Meanwhile shop I've written to about Sapphire 480s and called today 3 times did not reply nor pick up the phone once now shows 7.9. that they should get Sapphire 480s...

This supply situation is pathetic on both Nvidia and AMD side, AMD worse IMHO. Most shops just keep moving dates if they even show any and almost never get anything supplied. This really reminds of the communist times when you had to wait months to buy modern products and cars.

How well is Sapphire binning those chips? How much more OC can you get from the 1342MHz OC version compared to 1306MHz nonOC on average?

Do you think it's better to wait then? I don't want to wait until Vega. Do you think the prices will come down soon?
