That card is extremely beautiful. Almost makes me regret buying an R9 Fury Nitro. Almost wink.gif

So how hot and how much fan speed rpm wise does your 480 8GB run in most games? Or just run Heaven or 3DMark to check.

A ~1 hour BF1 session gave a max temp of 75C and a max fan speed of 44% (around 1850 RPM, audible but not annoying). FPS averaged 85-90 with everything maxed at 1080p DX12 (CPU=2500k @ 4.6GHz). Core clock remains stable at 1342 MHz under sustained load; I haven't attempted any OC yet. This is in a Corsair 250D, I imagine a larger case with more airflow would give lower temps.

Quite sexy. I'm so tempted to get an all glass case. The only time I see my card is when it got ship to me, when i clean my case (almost never happens), or when i decide to take it out to sale.

Thx, I'm now testing Doom, I've downloaded BF1 yesterday and want to try it before the alpha ends soon. I think the plastic shroud on my 1060 is blocking the exhaust from the heatsink, but then it is almost the same on RX 480 Nitro, the top and bottom parts are mostly blocked on Nitro, removing the backplate may actually help to improve airflow on it and get that top exhaust working, or cut those vented backplate areas completely open is another option on Nitro.

Hey any advice on getting that blue LED on the XFX 480 GTR to turn "off" ?
Also any advice to change the LED color for the XFX logo?

Are they even controllable? Your best bet would be some XFX app for it as nothing else will probably be able to do it.

If you want to mess with the card then snipping or desoldering the LED works as well as putting a piece of tape or opaque hot glue over it or a silicon, all of these may damage the LED though and lose warranty depending on how well you do it and if it's reversible without damage.

Sadly XFX does not provide a app (yet?)

Hm - that is what i was expecting.
Well the blue LED "should" be covered with ease.

Nitro+ air flow is carefully designed. The enclosing of the PCB and the overhang of the fans is designed to redirect air around the PCB. Air is pushed behind the backplate providing active backplane cooling, as well as some air movement making it down to the slot. The cut out behind the GPU is an exhaust tongue.gif

Exhaust from the heatsink is directed out the case and towards the power connector, it's a good idea to make sure the internal exhaust isn't being fought against with case fans for this reason.

You can unplug it fairly easily, actually.
