AMD released a WHQL slilent update to 16.9.1 I noticed no other difference performance wise between the WHQL and non-WHQL variant of 16.9.1. Pretty sure they just decided to certify the same driver they'd already released. Release notes are the same. I was disappointed the crashing wattman bug wasn't fixed. I had high hopes that the next WHQL driver would fix it.

On a side note, I tried the ASUS reference rx480 in my office computer. It's an older system not really built for gaming, but the visual errors in JustCause 3 weren't there. For some reason I can't get ROTR dx12 to work on that system. DX11 works. DX12 crashes. The cpu is below the recommended spec for the game. Maybe that's it. But from what i can test the issue follows the computer not the video card. Since the computer has already been formatted, and the issue persisted after a motherboard and a video card replacement, I'm left with trying another powersupply. I'll do that tomorrow. If it ends up being the powersupply I'm kinda screwed. That's the only 850 watt power supply that's only 150mm deep. Any deeper and I'll have to take my bottom 240 rad out of the system. I can't mount it on the back of the system because my top 360 rad is covering the grommets. I guess I could drill new holes.. Ugh. Anyone know of a 850 watt or higher modular powersupply that's aproxmently 150mm by 150mm. 3 to 5 mm more is all the more I could go and still get my rad in. I'm running a Silverstone Strider right now. SST-ST85F-GS It doesn't meet ATX specs for handling momentary sags. I think its supposed to do 12ms from the capacitor to smooth it out and it only does 9. I can't remember. Maybe it's noise on the 3.3 volt line I don't know. That might explain the video memory type looking problems. I'd think I'd have other problems if the powersupply was really the problem, but I'll give it a shot.

If it's not the powersupply I guess i'll be down to a compatibility issue with the As-Rock z97 Extreme6. @GecKoTDF You had the ROTR issue sort of with SSAA2x, hbao+ and DX12. What motherboard are you running? @Roboyto you don't have any corruption when you run SSAA2x HBao+ and DX12 on ROTR correct? If so maybe I'll switch to the Gigabyte Z97-MX Gaming 5 you're running.

So, whats the recommended stable driver currently?

I started to get issues and removed all AMD drivers with DDU and running on windows default drivers - runs much more stable than with the AMD ones o.O

The windows default drivers are also AMD drivers, just older version. Microsoft doesn't have a division that codes drivers for every device imaginable, just so Windows can have a default smile.gif Device manufacturers contact Microsoft and provide their driver along with HWIDs it applies to, Microsoft upload it to Windows Update, and if it's a popular or system critical device, include it in the Win installation.

I can see why such a driver would be more stable, since it has been tested since forever. Also you're probably not getting top performance with it.

Of course its not a driver made by Microsoft.
I was just giving the info on what driver I currently am, since I dont know the driver Version of that default driver.

So you got any advice on what driver to use?

I personally am seeing huge stability benefits from 16.9.1, but if it is causing problems for you, then I have no idea. Probably the issues come from the additional bundled stuff? Try to install the video driver alone, without the HDMI Audio driver and the apps. If that doesn't solve it, I have no idea.

Should i try to update bios?

How i do that?
Joining the club, just got my XFX RX470 4GB Single Fan. I like XFX's voltages for this card. 1037 max. Even lets me push 10% on core.

But I can't do anything with the memory. 1770 / stock 1000mv is the best I can go.
1800 / stock - games won't load, period.
1750 / 900mv - unstable

Anyone else tried to do anything with the RAM on this thing?
Does anyone have this problem that the memory clock wont idle properly when using a wallpaper at 1440p, 120/144 Hz (RX 480 4GB)?
-> 15 Watt more idle power draw.
