Hi guys, I am torn between upgrading to rx 480 or not. If I upgrade I only need 4gb as that's enough until vega. I don't want to spend more for another 8gb. Nitro+ is the only available 4gb that I like from where I am. But I heard Nitro+ cards are not well build. I like the card's looks and size. I never had a sapphire card. I am also looking for xfx gtr 8gb but reviews are rare. I had xfx 7870 DDthat lasted 3 years.

I am torn not buying because of vega news. But I want to upgrade so I can get better value from my r9 380x. What's your suggestion?

Sapphire Nitro+ is the best of what you listed, but I don't understand this part: "I don't include asus, and msi because this three brand is very expensive in my country."

Which brands are very expensive, Asus and MSI, or XFX, PowerColor and Sapphire?
Ah sorry if you don't understand what I mean. English is not my first language, so maybe I'm write it wrong.
What I mean is, I don't include the asus, and msi to my list because it's very expensive. So I only want advice on xfx, sapphire, and power color. Sorry again if my English not to good. And thanks for your advice thumb.gif

But what sapphire advantages compared the two other?

Powercolor has **** VRM, XFX has mediocre VRM and arguably **** RAM, and Sapphire has better than reference and second-best VRM after Asus, and Hynix RAM, which is the standard and arguably second-best after Samsung.

Which means that, cooler performance aside, you can expect Sapphire to run higher clocks with less throttling, overclock better, and function properly for a longer period of time.
And I say cooler performance aside, because you can always set a higher fan curve if you have heat issues.

Slightly disappointed but still good, glad he was able to get a better photo and actually ID them vs the best I could do was a guess xP now I don't HAVE to disassemble my card to say for sure lol

This makes the Sapphire nitro 470 almost exactly the same as reference in vrm capabilities minus that the nitro has more stable and clean power and a far better temperature tolerance.

This puts Asus squarely at the top of the class though as in regards to overclocking, etc. It's just more powerful with more features than all the other 480s (and most likely 470s). Well done Sapphire on a quality but not beefiest VRM, but Asus bravo on making the most powerful and overclocking ready version.

My recommendation has to sit firmly on the Asus cards. While nitro (and msi) would be the close second, Asus has just done so well with the board I can't say not to get it even if the cooler could use some work. It's worth the slight premium as far as PCB goes imo.

Hi guys, my red devil 480 begins to throttling by 78c.
I have already verified that goes into throttling exclusively for temperatures, in fact if I imposed the fans at 100% and I keep under 70c, the frequency remains stable.

The max temp is set to 90c in the bios but I understand that the vga begins to go into throttling already 10-15c before.

According to you to eliminate the throttling can be set "max temp" to 105c, while taking forever safety shutdown temp to 94c ???

You may be throttling not due to the GPU temperature, but instead due to the VRM temperature. Unfortunately right now I can't think of a way to confirm or remedy that issue..

Thanks for the immediate response, the VRM during heaven reach 85c.

But the throttling will not operate only according to the temperature or the power limit? Also with vrm temp?

Its likely your VRMs, the Red Devil has junk VRMs that are fine for normal operation but you will hit a wall overclocking. Your core can handle it but your power delivery cannot, like i said in the other thread reduce core clock and voltage till you can maintain clocks
