This is a great product that is unfortunately not available where I am currently.. Any other brands offer something similar by chance?

Open that shroud dude, the purpose of opening the shroud is not just only for cooling the gpu.

because of the VRM located behind the GPU it will be "cooled" by hot air from GPU heatsink, by opening the shroud your VRM will have access to fresh cool air inside your case, put 1 or 2 fan (1000+ rpm fan capabale will do) like post 1899.

Lol it's K. wait till i get home i'll take a pic from my refference card. Now VRMS 81 degrees underload when overclocked to 1400. Maybe my english is bad so theres some misunderstanding

I use that kind expansion slot fans, i don't use the one that came with my prolima because it makes my card use 5 slots

So here it is my refference RX 480 dual fan mount setup

It occupied 4 slots the gap between VRM sinks and the fan is preety far but maintain 81 degrees max (Vrm temp) while OC to 1400

i got a xfx rx480 gtr some time ago and experiencing some nasty issues and wanted to ask how you are dealing with those since it seems to be wide spread.

1. when using msi afterburner or openhardwaremonitor (probably any software that reads gpu sensors) the fan of the card ramps up randomly to 100%.
is there any other solution than disabling any software that accesses gpu sensors?

2. when watching youtube i get very annoying black screens. i use clockblocker to avoid the card from downclocking which solves the black screens but i would like the card to downclock since thats what she was designed to do:/
any solutions on that front other than hoping for a driver fix?

What do you guys think about this:

http://wccftech.com/amd-polaris-revisions-performance-per-watt/

The article states that AMD is already in the process of rolling out some sort of improved revision of their current polaris GPU's, but they speculate that these improved chips will get used for the mobile market first.

However, there is also this already posted review:

The rx 480 in this review seems to be way better than the usual , lower tpd than 100W, easly clocked to 1470Mhz with relativly low Vcore of 1,175V.

Could it be that the chip on the reviewed unit is already one of the improved revision/ manufacturing process ? Will all new manufactured cards get these new revisioned chips or will they release a rx 485 revision ?

Hi again,

i added the backplate and heres the result:

Good thing: VRM never goes higher than 71, without an additional fan (the ufo).

Bad thing: GPU stays at target temp 60 ° C only at 1800 rpm. Compared to yesterday its worse, i had 60 °C at 1200 yesterday.

I guess the problem is that my card is bending since i added the backplate. If i untighten the screws more, i probably wont have enough pressure and bad temperatures resulting as well. I just mounted the GPU by hand, so its really not that tight. Even if it looks different: The reason for the bending are the GPU Cooler/Fan screws/nuts, not the clips on the outside.

How did you guys solved this problem?

I had a similar cooler, by hand is not tight enough, can confirm.

so what to do? If i tight it more, card is bending more and conctact between cooler and gpu is suffering (i tried that already)

If i dont tighten it more, i have too less pressure.
