MSI 480 gaming x owners - could post a screenshot of the sensor readings from GPU-Z while gaming/benchmarking so I can judge the temps relative to fan speed, so I can gauge apporixmately how loud the card will be.

Thanks.

I don't know if your issue is the same or not with me, but my problem is triggered by sapphire trixx. Anybody with the same experience with me?

Maybe it resets your voltage setting? So it crashes the oc? idk man.

On another note:
Does anyone know how to overvolt the memory on a 480?

Just saw AMD card benchmarks for the new COD, specifically the 480 versus the 1060. Again, as was the case in DOOM, Deus Ex and Battlefield 1, the 480 is faster, sometimes significantly so, and sometimes this is the case in DX11 mode let alone DX12.

So my question is this - why were the media (like TechPowerUp) so quick to hold up the custom 1060s at the launch of this new generation as superior to the custom 480s when we knew the 480 had/would have more performance in newer games, as who buys a new videocard to only play old games (in TPU's case, W1zzard benched both the 480 and 1060 with 95% old DX11 games and made the determination that the 1060 was notably faster. With this determination made and influencing people to buy the Nvidia card, he then changed up his benching suite of games with newer titles several weeks later. And suddenly and as expected the 1060 isn't so much faster on average. Funny that, why not refresh your benching suite of games with newer titles in time for a new gen of cards being released? Why do it 1 month later when opinion has been formed? Performance-per-dollar, performance-per-watt and obviously average performance figures were all determined on TPU from unfairly benching these new cards with lots of old games)

Let's look here at the MSI Gaming 480. Silent, runs cool and has 2GB more VRAM than the MSI Gaming 1060, and now we are seeing a trend where the 480'S gpu is notably faster in the big new releases. Yet the custom 1060s were universally recommended over the AMD card. With the media hostile like this, it's no surprise AMD is struggling along with only a 1/4 market-share.

I was wrecking my head about same problem, which card to buy...(not nvidia nor amd fan boy as in past had both suppliers)

Should I go for 1060 (6gb, 192bit, less power consumption, MORE EXPENSIVE, faster 400mhz, dx 11) or rx 480 (8gb, 256bit, bit higher power consumption comparing to 1060, less expensive, dx12 in testing)

and for same reason was thinking which one would be better... was looking for so many reviews, benchmarks, etc... and in every game or video rendering 1060 was better..

why?

2 reasons, like you said.. media... nvidia is paying big bucks to get promoted where amd is left with breadcrumbs to deal with market...

I took 480.. why...i dont care how 1060 might be, as long as i have in gpu what I actually want...

and games...
they will come and go... dx 12 is future, and even if its in testing period, it shows that 480 will be better than 1060.. in every aspect... its all down to users who report fault so amd can fix it through driver support...

and if you are buying new gpu... why do u need to oc it straight away?! why dont you buy the fastest one on the market... (you would probably still complain about performances tongue.gif:p:p

my 2 cents biggrin.gif

So I was planning to OC the RAM of my RX 480. I start slow and set it to 2100Mhz and didnt change RAM Voltage. But HwInfo already reporting errors. (GPU Memory Errors = 397). Can I try to increas voltage a little, if so what voltages are ok for daily use? Or is less than 2100Mhz already the limit of my 480s RAM?
