Not the same argument here, as both have similar memory bandwidth.
Compute/Texture unit count is not much different.
Architecture is also exactly the same, they share the same base die.

It would be more accurate to describe it as being similar to the 290/290X difference.

Not the same.
Here we're talking about gpus that share the same architecture and where specs vary less than 15%. Hawaii vs Fiji is a whole different situation, 4096 vs 2816 shaders, 512 vs 320GB/s and architecture improvements like delta color compression or improved tessellation.

And it doesn't matter if a shader is unit bound or not, you're targeting a very specific scenario that is very difficult to reproduce. Bandwidth is the major bottleneck on Polaris and in most situations you will be limited by it.
That's the reason why overclocking the memory or tightening the timings yields significant improvements.

Does anyone know how to overclock the red devil RX480, im a noob at it. I already have that 1330 mhz on it.

Generally you don't and be happy with it if you want it to last

Wasn't the Red Devil the one with the problematic VRMs? If I were you, I would not OC it at all, just let the factory boost do its job.

The Red Devil can overclock, but it doesn't have a good enough VRM for extreme overclock. People over-exaggerated buildzoid's words on its pcb review, but he was talking about things like pushing +1.3v or LN2. But as long as you keep VRM temperatures cool, there's quite enough current output available. In fact, at 80ºC the VRM does 206A, better than the NITRO.

So for a Red Devil the best would be overclock it while monitoring with HWinfo VRM temperature 1 and VRM Current OUT (IOUT), and stop when you're getting 100ºC or 150A.

And avoid using synthetic stress tests like Furmark, OCCT or Kombustor, since they push the vrm beyond normal usage.

I have the Red Devil RX470.

That is about all you will get out of it. 1330/1850. Overclocking the Vram above 1850 will start to diminish your performance.

I would just add +25 to the power limit, and adjust you temp profile to suit you. It will keep the 1270 boost that way.

Temps stay good on stock though. Here is where I ran all my benchmarks.

I do two runs of each:
Valley
Heaven
Time Spy
Firestrike
The Division Ultra
The Division High
VRMark Orange Room
VRMark Blue Room

They take about 45-50 mins to run.

Here is a screenshot of HWiNFO64 after running all of them(Driver 16.11.2):

Here is a link showing the performance at stock(+25 PW) with the different drivers:

nobody said it couldnt, but the fact is that the Red Devil has the worst 480 VRMs and for the sake of longevity and just the card in general leaving it at the 1330mhz (which is a respectable clock) is advised, The Red Devil is absolutely fine at stock and youre already seeing diminishing return at the point considering bandwidth limitations. Overclocking the ram would be better VS the core.

Again, just because it is the worst VRM for a 480 it doesn't mean it is bad. You can still overclock and target 1400-1430MHz without worrying because the VRM is way capable of it. You just need to be more careful with VRM temperatures.

What it isn't recommended on a Red Devil is to try to push for 1475-1500MHz, something hard to achieve on a Red Devil anyway because core temps will be a hard limit, as the cooler isn't that great.
