I can't really say how good it is at OC'ing yet but I will interject these few things. Its pretty great out of the box and runs really cool. ......ok I was going to say something about the price until I noticed it was CAD and not USD

I think is one of the best RX480 actually on market, but then i depend what u call good overclocker!
Good overclockers chip are based on silicon lottery mostly and then it relies to the pcb/vrm set-up.
It comes out already with hight clocks, then for oc further u will need to go under water.
I think u cant maybe hit 1400mhz for the core under air but u will be limited by the cooler, even if the GTR comes out with a decent heatshink.

The only think i can be sure that it haves a really nice VRM set-up, look the utube video for explanations.
So if u are lucky, and chill the card enough i think it is a really nice card for stable oc!

I have read that so far, overclocking wise, NVidia's TSMC 16nm fares quite a bit better (relatively speaking).

Also, what is the best RX470 4GB card?
Finally, I am running a i3 6100 + gtx760. Now I am not even sure I want a new GPU, I don't really need one.
What would be a smarter decision, getting a 6600K or a RX470 4GB? Or neither?

NV and AMD chips are not comparable. NV's 14nm GF chips are hitting 1900 where AMD is hitting ~1350.

AMD runs hotter because it has a Hardware based Scheduler and Nvidia has a Software based Scheduler, last time Nvidia tried a GCN like arch with Fermi, we all know what happened.

Wait...is this? Is this the real reason? I thought its because AMD insists on keeping double precision hardware intact while Nvidia ditched it since Maxwell.

It was a discussion on /g/ and what i understand from it, Nvidia opted to optimize their archs on serial workloads used more in DX11 and ditched the underutilized hardware scheduler , while AMD bet it all on GCN and parallel workloads, and better compute+ graphics operations handling with a hardware scheduler and async compute engines, that where very underutilized in DX11 but more usable in DX12 (well i think everything really comes down to the software developers) I am not ultra fully in depth with all the terminology i wrote but i kind of understand why AMD has less performance on DX11 than Nvidia, i am truly sorry if i made some illogical mistakes, as i am here to learn thank you. thumb.gif

I think it is well explained, DX12 behavior itself allow the gpu to parallel task removing the delay due to the task queue order.
So that's why nvidia is going so well in DX11, because it add a tons of horse power due to the high clock gain on pascal chip, where amd just didn't use the DX12 features on DX11, but get nice gain on DX12 api.

Yeah thx i saw it, but like he said himself, i think this is a really good asics card, surely binned, a usual GTR with a decent asics will get 1400Mhz+ under water easily, especially being sure that u will use the 6pin power to feed your vrm, and u can do this easily with the wattmantool that u can find on the forum.
