Hear good things about the GTR (BE) and its great cooler. However, then I remembered I have an old Accelero Twin Turbo II that I can use on the Nitro (if it fits), which from appearance alone seems like a better cooler than the GTR one. Still deciding...

I was running my non BE GTR last night for hours clocked at Core clock 1,415 MHz ~ Memory bus clock 2,070 MHz for hours last night gaming and rarely saw 70c. To add to that, there is no addition airflow across the card currently since its in a P3 frame. These GTR's are pretty awesome so far

What were you room temps? Down here it gets really hot and I have no AC, so I need a really good cooler.

About 75F/24C...its adding to the much needed warmth in this cold weather. If you are looking to watercool it, you can use a generic block but so far EK doesn't make a full block for non-ref boards. Still unknown if a ref EK block will work.

Nah, not bothering with water cooling. Did that in my earlier OC days, but these days I can't afford the luxury. I'm happy with big air coolers and loud fans. My room is usually at 30-32*C, so I guess I will be looking at around 76ish *C or so with that cooler. I get around 70*C with my Twin Turbo II on a 7850 (1.3 core voltage).

Nitro is a decent cooler but I'd look more at the MSI card for best cooler. Nitro is pretty but MSI for cooling IMO. The GTR might be a better cooler than nitro

I have the Nitro 470, I've personally never heard it during gaming (Those of you that do, do you play on MUTE or what?) Looking at it compared to some of the other cards, the cooler COULD be better. In all honesty, I was wondering what the almost-sealed shroud would do as far as temps go. Newest drivers have cooled the card down significantly however.

The Nitro is easily the BEST looking 480 IMO, and the cooler is decent. The heatsink should have been bigger for these VRM's however, these thermal pads get em pretty toasty still. But then again, I think I have the hottest VRM's ever... At stock clocks mind you haha, even undervolted a bit.

Edit: I was seeing 80C max 88% fans before, after the last few updates I see 74C max and 55% fans. Games that draw more VRAM useage tend to heat up my VRMs a lot more than games that pull under 4gb. And even after turning the VRAM "limiter" off in Battlefield 1 I've still barely broke 3.5gb of useage on that game. But I've hit well above 4Gb in Fallout 4 and Far Cry 4, and my VRMs get WARM.

I usually have around 70-75F/21-23C ambient temps, sometimes higher, and I think 82C is the highest I've ever seen my max hit. (470Nitro+ 8gb)

My nitro 470 4gb becomes very audible @ 60% fan speed. That's over my other fans in my Define R5. Maybe you're lucky but in my case it's fairly loud

I have a reference 8800 GTX from a friend, I plan to try to mod the heatsink to put it on my 470.
The 8800 has a copper plate and several heatpipes, the 470 is just plain aluminum. I want to keep the VRM and VRAM cooling on the 470, just to slap the copper goodies in the place of the chunk of aluminum. I will post photos when I get to doing it.

If anyone has diagrams and schematics of reference 8800GTX and Rx470/480 coolers, I could make great use of them in planning the mod, would be very grateful to have them.

I can take the 8800 apart any time to make measurements, but i would like to avoid opening the 470 until i actually have an idea on how to fit it all together.

My XFX RX 480 GTR arrived yesterday,. Just in time with the relive drivers

Card hovers around 50c idle and 65-70c full load

Been a while since I've of my GPU ( been running a HD 5450 for last 6months)

In terms of stability & Features what do u recommend

Waterman, trixx, afterburner or GPU tweak?

Over managed to Overclock to the core 1350mhz with no voltage change

Looking to push 1400+

Also wants a safe voltage ? 1.2v?

Well, you can't go wrong with either waterman, earthman or airman. Just beware of fireman, it attacks out of nowhere...
