Having a Sapphire Nitro RX 480 OC.
In our old HTPC with an A10-5700 cpu and MB from 2012 that bottlenecks the RX480 performance, but the card does more than well in online games like World of tanks, World of Warships and War Thunder.
Thanks to the RX 480 the old HTPC will double as a game computer.

The Fractal Design Node 605 HTPC case don't really works with an M-ITX MB and Graphic card.
Will also play games like South Park - Stick of truth and it's sequels smile.gif

Hi guys,

How many voltage you think it's secure for the RX 480? I was thinking no more than 1.200v -
post #2973 of 4143
If you can cool it I'd say up to 1.3v.
I would say ~1.2v for average users and ~1.3v for those with advanced custom cooling, including better VRM cooling.

Good, well I have a water cooler but it's only in the GPU so the VRM it's with the original backplate, with real 1.195v have 85° full load at 1350 Mhz - So probably will stay there.-

Has anyone else noticed VDDC spiking when playing back x265/VP9 content? I can use the card for gaming all day and core voltage doesn't budge past the set limit (actually looks like there's a bit of drop with the latest driver), but fire up Netflix and it shoots up past the set 1025mV to its stock setting - 1150mV - couple times a minute.

It's normal - When you are gaming usually have a Vdrop because the load - When you are using "light" applications like video playback, when the GPU change of state have a little voltage spike, when you are gaming too, but it's less, check for example when you are gaming with GPU-Z then put "Max" in the sensor, and see probably have something like 1.150v or similar, nothing to worry about.-

Eh, maybe. I'll have it run some more and see, however I always run HWInfo in the background and I haven't noticed any vcore spikes while gaming yet.

The card came from the factory clocked to 1342MHz at 1175mV. Since upgrading to the latest driver a few days ago I've switched to the "silent" BIOS, clocked to to 1300Mhz and reduced voltage to 1025mV. While under gaming load it usually hovers in the 1007-1019mV range. When doing video playback it hovers around 900mV, but occasionally it spikes to 1150mV.

It's fine, 900 mV its a low stage, when jump to a stage 7, go to the max 1150 mV - Nothing to worry about - When you are gaming you are in Stage 7 always so have a constant Vdrop.-
