I solved my fan issue by using Sapphire Trixx, setting a custom fan profile. The voltage I control via Wattool instead of wattman or other overclocking tools. The reason I was asking about disabling, was more to me being curious is since the fans are connected to the GPU pcb they have to take away from the total power the card can draw to actually use them. I have noticed when I am able to make the fan not run even with it disconnected the card actually draws less power in my overclocks. ( I did not explain this well) Note I am using a very customized bios I created. I am working towards the top limits.

Currently at 1450 core 2200 mem with 1.3 volts but I as I said I have a great red mod using an old AIO cpu cooler I have.

My latest Firestrike run today. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/11523817

So it is a problem in GPU? Anyone here that can do stress test with RX 480?

What do you recommend for undemanding games? Is it ok if I put fan always on in another Afterburner profile when playing undemanding games?

I wouldn't say it's a problem really. I don't think I have Adia or GPU-Z on my son's rig to test. If I have time later I can run it and see though. I'm sure someone will chime in and give ya some input.

As for the fans....the card I am on now PNY 1060 doesn't have that type of profile. Thankfully. The fans on it are always on. They start around 50% then increase almost with the temps when it hits 60°. So when the card is at 62° the fans are right around 62% too.

But yea, if you want to set the fans to be on, I don't see any harm being done. I'm sure it will with VRM temps too. I wish nVidia had sensors for the VRM like AMD does.

You do not need to bother, someone with 480 will come:) In some games like Doom I have very big gpu usage spikes, like ekg, but it doesn't effect on fps, so I think it is a wrong readings but I am not sure.

I don't think it's a issue with the card really.

I just ran Adia on my son's RX470, saw the same behavior as you are seeing:

Doom....with Vulkan or OpenGL? Again, I don't think it is anything to sweat over.

In Unigine Valley I run benchmark 10 times and every time I get prrety much the same fps. Is it wrong reading or gpu doesn't work correctly?

I posted this problem a couple pages ago. Fps in Doom was constant, no big fps drops, I think that minimal fps was 39. In Doom fans were turning off and on (temp 59-62c), while in witcher 3 temp was 70c, fans always on, gpu usage was relatively stable. Gpu bios is the latest, drivers also. I have dual boot so I tryed on Win7, same situation. Strange problem, probably wrong readings about gpu usage...

You should run the Vukan API on Doom. You will see a big improvement. It looks like the core isn't spiking...just the loads. As I said, I'm fairly new on the AMD side....and honestly haven't paid that much attention when I had the 470 in this rig. I really think it just depends on what you are running that causes the spikes....here is a screenshot from a while back of the Division benchmark. I think this was 4 runs(2 ultra, 2 high):

Thank you for your tests, once again biggrin.gif

I think that are my gpu core and memory clock stable but I will test that better. Would you recommend me to put fan always on, let`s 10-15% on idle? I tryed now Metal gear solid: Ground zeroes and gpu fans are on the limit, 2 minutes on, than 3 second off, 59-63C.

No problem...love testing/comparing. We are all trying to get the most out of whatever hardware we have. thumb.gif

If it were me....I would have them running as low as possible for whatever you are doing. You can make a custom fan curve in AB. I want to say about 25% is as low as it will go. When I am using folding@home, I set my fans a little higher than stock. f@h will make cards get pretty toasty. You just have to mess around with it and see what you're comfortable with. I don't care for the zero fan profiles, that's just me though. biggrin.gif

Finally got a new GPU its a MSI RX 480 Gaming X I really like it.
I have been playing overwatch with it and it looks amazing.
