that's why I find it odd the first time I ran 3dmark after the tweak and saw the voltage at 1.22v cause I didn't reset my AB settings before changing the required value in the registry highlighted below. That's the only value that's needed to extend the power limit right? Now I went back to the default 50% power limit set the registry value back to it original value and the voltage reverted back to normal.

If changing the thermal paste with a good one helps, I would do it. Anyone knows something about this?

The core paste is fine, the pads aren't the greatest though. You won't see much difference in replacing the paste. If you have a higher ASIC it'll tend to run hotter at higher voltage. Mines around 82% and at 1.15v I easily hit 80c

72.4% ASIC. I don't know about the pads: memory ones or VRM ones? The VRM is very cool, I never see it reach 70C at stock and only with 1.2V+ goes above 80C

Your temps overall seem fine tbh, I'd adjust your fan profile for better temps. I wish I could keep my VRMs under 95c at 1.2v tongue.gif @ 1.2v I can see 85c+ and 100c+ core/vrm

You're just seeing some of the limits of the stock fan profile and cooling solution (assuming you're still stock based on the question)

I get lower temps and yes, I'm in stock cooling. I think that put an AIO is not worth it. Well, so 1300Mhz it is. rolleyes.gif

I just bought a ASUS ROG STRIX Rx 480 8GB yesterday, and am having random driver crashes on BF1 and Witcher 3. It locks my PC and gives me a grey or red screen. Does anyone have any input for this?

If you bought it yesterday, I would suggest exchanging it.

Sounds like either the card is poorly seated, the power connector is poorly seated, or the fans don't work.

Hey fellas!

I recently picked up an Asus rx 470 strix card, my z600 only has a 6 pin pci-e power cable so instead of messing around with adapters and such I snagged it.
From what I have been reading, the card suffers from throttling, the exact model is ASUS STRIX-RX470-O4G-GAMING, could this be solved by a bios upgrade of any sort or have drivers
already sorted it out?

Cheers!

It was recently discovered that the Asus STRIX Rx line suffers from very poor thermal paste. If you can replace it with a quality third-party alternative without voiding the warranty - I strongly suggest it. Perhaps send it where you bought it from so they can replace it with a proper paste as a part of warranty repair?
