Hi,

First time post, I got a 8gb Msi RX 480 gaming x last week and I'm having an odd issue. The fan rpm is showing up as zero in AB and wattman. The fans are spinning and the fan speed percentage seems to be showing correctly. Any advice?

Swap the two fans with each other. Occam's razor would suggest that the one giving the RPM signal has a faulty circuit.

If that doesn't work then the fault is more likely to be along the path from the RPM signal to the main PCB (XFX uses a small PCB in the fan shroud to carry signals).

EDIT: I suppose it's important to note that I have motion blur, chromatic aberration, and depth of field off in all games. I see how some of these may "mask" the effect. Can anyone please turn these off and see if Hayden moves fine in DOOM?

Never saw that kind of thing on my RX 470 during a full play through of Doom. If you are overriding anything with the driver w/r/t graphics settings, that may be the root of your issue.

We have had a member with shader corruption in the Tomb Raider reboot as well, turned out it was improperly applied TIM done by the user (dry spot). Don't remember who that was off the top of my head.

I dont think it's a hardware issue with me, it happens consistently every time on the same objects, regardless of temps. Also persists across clean installs of several driver versions.

Here is a video of the corruption. Especially visible on the second set of NPCs. First corrupted, second clean. It's a bit hard to see, but notice how the corrupted faces seem blurred, their animations seem to misalign the whole face, and textures move around along with the animation. See the forehead of the first NPC of the second set, 0:35:

Here is a better video. Notice how the face of the NPC to the left moves in relation to its head, like their facial features have inertia and misalign to the geometry of the head, the hair, etc., while the NPC on the right has a perfectly normal face, despite the similar movement of the head.

The repeating and blurring effect disappears if I disable tessellation, however the textures keep acting weird. It's much harder to notice, but there are changes in the textures depending on the head movement when tessellation is disabled. Also, what the hell would tessellation have to do with some select NPC's faces? I'll try to play around with the tessellation options in Radeon setting, see what comes up.

UPDATE: Tessellation settings in Radeon have no effect on the issue.

In DeusEx the tessellation on the road persists even if I have Tessellation disabled in-game, only the most of the artifacting faces are gone, so I'll just play with Tessellation off until someone comes up with a fix, or at least an explanation for what's happening smile.gif
