GTX 960 is 55% of the performance at 1080 and 45% at 1440.

Depending what your budget is, a 470 may even be a worthy upgrade since they are a good portion of the performance of the 480 for less $

Yes, I am on 1080p and will stay there for long. I don`t change components often, but this is a exception because I think that 480 will be will be a way more long lasting on 1080p than 960. It would be a small difference in a price if I sell 960 and buy a 480. So it is worth it?

I'm in the same boat with a Strix 960 2GB and although it has been really solid at 1080p I want just a little more breathing room especially with VRAM so I'm looking to move to a 480 also. I would consider the 1060 but it isn't priced right and I've seen AMD drivers really mature over time so I think the lifespan would be better with the 480. Plus there is CF and waterblocks if you want them.

Another Funders edition supporter no doubt ..

AMD cards are priced right - beating the competition at nearly all pricepoints in fps per $. Without castrated compute either .. hence the miners jump on them . If NV cards were any good the miners would buy them too . Can't blame AMD for making great all purpose cards - buy NV if you just want gimped for gaming.

As for awful line up the only cards that NV has that are remotely special at present are the $700+ cards .. everything else is yawn worthy in the pascal lineup and the performance has been seen before with cards that are 16 months old.

Pascal is actually good for mining. The problem is it doesn't have a high performance windows miner, so most people are too lazy to buy some and compile things on ubuntu.

Right now I'm stockpiling GTX 1070s. Even though the performance / price is lower than the 480, it has similar power consumption. It's 50% more performance than the 480 while only taking up 1 PCIe slot and using the same power, which is a pretty good deal for mining.

If you offset some cost with selling yours, then I would say so.  It is approx double performance from where you are now.  The 480 essentially plays anything with ultra/max settings at 1080...reduce some of the most demanding settings and 1440P is definitely playable in many, many titles.

Here's Stock settings running for about 5 min less time than from when you asked until now. (without looking maybe an hour and 20?)

edit: not sure what that interruption was. I was out doing chores.

Has anyone tried replacing the thermal paste on their Ref RX 480? I have a bunch of CLU on me but I'm not sure if it'll make a big difference.
I didn't answer your question about what the card did on stock. 1380 on stock in Firestrike Ultra with the fan all the way up.

Also my temps may be more than what the block can do. I have a few bits of POM in there. It's not really worth messing with right now though.

Should be able to easily. I'm mining Vertcoin and waiting for Claymore's nVidia miner. Comes out in a week.

I figured out what those drops in gpu usage were caused by. I left the overclocke.net and gmail open in chrome running in the background. Doh!
