Are there concerns to be had with wattage, or parameters you'd want to stick to, given that everything is operating smoothly?

I have an MSI RX 480 Gaming X 4GB that runs stable at 1420 MHz and pulls 175-190W under load, 205W peak when being absolutely slammed (brief intense moments in benchmarks). Temps don't exceed 72 C with fans going 35-40% max at peak power draw.

I'm just curious because the card was closer to the 155-165W range with stock settings (1305 MHz). I've left voltage at stock 1.162V and bumped the power limit to +20% for clock stability. The card won't run stable below 1.160V so I figure I'll leave the voltage at what MSI set it at.

Please let me know if there is anything I should be concerned about here, or if you know what would be the wattage threshold that you do not want to exceed.

You're fine, there isn't a "don't go above this wattage". Polaris starts to pull alot of juice as you start overclocking, it's normal.

Yes that's normal because it's not memory voltage it's memory controller voltage. If you want you can look into hard modding memory voltage as there is no software way to control it.

Those 1070's were dying in games. Still a different level of 'oops'.

Ugh so I updated my drivers last night to the 17.2.1 aaaaaaand my mouse cursor is super dope faint dashed lines again. Dunno if any of you have the same issue or not, seems like every few driver updates they put out it comes back and then with the next update it's gone. Makes using my mouse on any sort of dark background impossible lol. What I dont' understand is the issue getting fixed should keep it from occuring in further driver updates, so why does it seem to pop back up from time to time? Some weird code for the cursor needed or something?

Now, given I'm techincally running dual-displays (due to my little 5" monitoring screen in my case window) and I've heard that it's only an issue with dual-display systems. Any other multi-monitor users get the same issue?? (Sapphire Nitro+ 470 8gb card w/samsung 2000mhz RAM btw) I'm hoping someone has a fix that doesn't require a PC restart since sometimes it happens within minutes of a restart, other times it's a whole day before it happens.

(Also note, my PC is on 24/7... Is that bad?)

Somehow, in some way, the cursor memory on the GPU is being overwritten with junk data. Most likely, it's just a single byte or word (an off-by-one error) in some pointer arithmetic somewhere in some entirely unrelated part of the driver. A hardware-level memory guard would prevent this (or make it easier to find), but I doubt that's worth the effort.

Someone will discover the fix on accident and not even know they fixed it - just noticed an off-by-one error, fixed it, didn't notice anything wrong, and moved on... and then it'll be fixed.

Hmm. Well most of the time I see in patch notes "Mouse cursor degridation fixed" or under "known issues" will be "With some Radeon RX series cards the mouse cursor is known to corrupt in some dual display setups" or something along those lines. So they know it's happening (I make sure of that thumb.gif ) and they DO fix it. Just weird that it comes back. And it's REALLY annoying haha. I guess some people can get it fixed by moving the mouse between the two screens super quick for a minute or so.... That doesn't work for me haha.

Its likely due to the massive difference in resolution of the screens. Have you tried disabling one monitor and re-enabling it when this happens?
