Here is my best(gtx1060) against that run you just posted:

Looks like HT really helps with CPU scores.

Well yeah for the total but just looking at the pure graphics...also I am on the latest win 10 insider ...the AU edition scores higher on both the cpu and combine then the last few insider builds. ON the Annivsary Ed of windows 10 my physic score would be above 11k.

Nice scores, as we are all shooting for the same thing...to see how far we can push in real world settings with things exploding. Yes I blew up a R9 290 overclocking. I always find it funny how websites compare different cards, which is far different then we actually do here. One thing here on overclock.net is the fanboy is actually kept to a min and instead we look as real world and what all this actually means across manufacturers with out being so caddy to each other like many other places.

When I switchs over a year ago from AMD FX 8120 990FX to Skylake I had a lot of learning to do and this is the place I got it without any shade.

Incidentally that run I just noticed 3dmark is showing my memory at 1200 when it was actually 2250.

I was really looking at the CPU scores....that is why I mention HT. Graphics were pretty close. The big CPU OC's do affect the graphics a little though. I was just interested in the whole kit and kaboodle.... Believe me, I'm not a "fanboy" of either brand...lol I love seeing other scores...whether higher or lower, doesn't matter much to me. I'm a bit of number's freak.

I've only been into OC'ing for about 2 years. Most of it was spent with extracting every drop out of the 970. I'm hoping that Vega will finally be a big blow to nVidia. I'm really interested Ryzen.

Ahh I have been overclocking since the AMD pencil trick...yeah I am really that old. I move to whatever suits me at the time...heck I used my FX 8120 for about 6 years. Yeah the HT makes a huge difference, when I took the plunge to really upgrade the i5 6600k is all I could afford withe motherboard and ram...and I actually had to get them separate over 2 months since I live on disability. It was heck to see that cpu and motherboard sitting for a month before I could order the new ddr4 ram.

Yeah I am looking forward to to seeing Ryzen and Vega as my partner does not care what I spend on my "hobby" as long as I make sure between both of us the bills are all paid etc. I bought a new PC case in December to prepare for any major changes this year, old stormtrooper case from when it was release many years now I have the Thermaltake tower 900 monstrosity. Hate the glass actually since I go into my case often but all the space is just OMG.

He knows I might upgrade to Kaby lake or build a new Ryzen system this year and also is pretty sure I will get me a vega gpu. Just waiting and seeing so I have not bought any of the real full water cooling kits.

And nothing wrong with extracting every last drop of performance...I just modded my gpu bios yet again to up the power limit from 30% to 50% to see if that helps. Unhappy with my ASus Z170-a since it was advertised with bad bios recovery but actually needed an add on card (which was never available from ASUS) unlike my previous amd sabertooth with a button on the on the motherboard. so I am afraid to mod my motherboard bios.

Overclocking is addictive but can have deadly well for the hardware consequences.

All in all I pretty happy with the overclock I am getting on this "sucky" PowerColor RX 480 Red Devil card. Sucky in how people tend to think of it.,.

Ha...I remember the ole pencil trick. I had a Duron 800 that worked on. smile.gif

I'm on disability too....so I have a pretty tight budget. We have one child, and it does allow me to buy maybe one "high price" item a year(tax refund time). I've sold off or traded for parts, and have saved a little. That is one reason why I went with my 1060. I wasn't going to spend big $$ on a cut down die. I was running SLI with 970's, sold one, got a rebate on the 1060, and nVidia owes me 60.00 for the litigation that was settled. Hopefully, that will be coming in within the next few months. So with all of that, the 1060 cost me about 80.00.

I bought the RX470 too soon though really. I've really should have gotten a 480 8gb card. He's happy with it, so that's all the matters. I mean it was a huge upgrade for him, as he was using my of R9 270x. Although, that card was still chugging along and playing everything decently. I've been keeping data bases on all the GPU's I've had, other than the R9. I did run my full battery of benchmarks on it though. The ones for the 970/1060/470 are posted in the thread for the owners of each card. I use Google Sheets for them. If you're interested in seeing all these numbers let me know. I can send you all the links via a PM. I try not to post comparisons too much....seems a lot people like to argue back and forth about whatever hardware they are more favorable to. I'm sure you've seen it on OCN.

I'm trying to get away from that mentality of part favoritism. Although it's hard with my 980 ti.

Btw I'm running overclocking tests right now on the 480.

Heaven 4.0 1280x720 8xAA max settings windowed mode.

I got a baseline done at 1330/2000
Then I went max memory clock with stock core 1330/2080

Then I have 1410/2080

I'm confused by the voltage readings tho.

I think you have the the PowerColor RX 480 but want to make sure as some of the parts on the PCB vary from one to another....

For heaven benches I use the standard and do not change anything so it remains comparable even thought 1920x1080 is standard mine uses my ultra wide screen 2560 x1080 same for firestike/

Are you familiar with the Polaris Bios editor? assuming yes.

If you have the same PC rx 480 as me I can try to help you out as they are not as gimped as people believe from that LN extreme OC there are limitations and it will depends on if you are on air or aio red mod or whatnot.

I am currently hovering between core 1450/1575 and memory 2250/2275 but as I stated I am on a very good bolt on with the right screws AIO red mod so I can push a bit more voltage but I am now hitting the limits without actual damage.

The PC RX 480 quiet bios is actually better then either the OC one or the unlocked one...but you have to unlock the powertune and powerlimits in the bios editor.
