This one on NewEgg is only $165 shipped but I noticed it only has a 6-pin power connector. Should I steer clear of that and get one with an 8-pin?

It'll be going into an older P7H55-M PRO motherboard for a client, so I don't want to mess with the power settings, etc. Just drop it in and use it.

It has the same PCB as the Red Devil since it is basically the dual fan red dragon but with one fan removed so it would take all Vcore power from the external power connector which in this case is only a 6-pin so yes it WILL overdraw the 6-pin but 6-pins are capable of much more than 75W realistically I mean look at how an 8-pin only adds 2 negative pins which really doesn't do much so it would be fine even on a crappy motherboard as it won't draw a huge amount of power from the motherboard PCIe slot.

i have a cheap mobo and that same gpu
it overclocked beautifully (1175mv on the core) and reaches 1400mhz/2145mhz stable, needed a side fan for the memory to stay stable at those clocks, otherwise only 2000mhz
meanwhile it's also stable at 1080mv @1320mhz core 2145mhz mem
530w psu and it's been running beautifully since november. it was priced similarly but without the free doom (danmit i want free games)

word to the wise, you're going to want to change the stock fan curve, as it's so stupid that it'll cause throttling and deafening bursts of noise, but i'm sure that's a problem with wattman rather than the individual gpu.
with a custom fan curve it doesn't go over 50% (stays around 40%) and around 75C doesn't go over 80C.

Hello there AMD RX 480 Owners, i need your help

Long Story : http://www.overclock.net/t/1624543/gtx-960-g1-gaming-doesnt-display-an-image-after-applying-cl-pro-can-it-be-fixed-or-time-to-change-for-what

Short Story : i think, and à Guy confirmed this in the tread linked. I Fried my 960 4Gb, si i guess it's time for me to say good bye to that card and upgrade.

I'd like to keep my budget to mid 200€ up to High 200€ (exemple MSI RX 480 8GB Is at 229€ and her green team rival the ASUS 1060 6GB is at 289€.)

I play at 1080p. Mainly dishonored 2, Arma 3, Elite Dangerous. Star Citizen later, occasionaly some BF1, i'll play some Ghost Recon Wildlands and mass effect Andromeda..

The whole point is that i want to use this card à few years...

Now, here is my wonders, Back in the day i had a powercolor single fan cooled 6850, the card worked well but i was disapointed about the temps and the drivers optimisation...

Does the RX480 8GB is à great card for my needs ?

GTX 1060 6gb and RX 480 8gb are pretty much neck and neck. If one is much cheaper than the other, get the cheaper one.

The GTR RX 480 is supposed to have a pretty good cooler, but I did not have any problems with the reference cooler. I think the GTR was getting 60-70c while the reference cooler stays around 80c in gaming conditions @ stock. The ref cooler can be made to hold ~70c but it will be fairly loud. I have not had a single issue with cards running at 80c for 5-10 years, from either GPU vendor.

Actually my pal's 1060 6GB is neck and neck with my 470, 480 8GB is 10% faster than both.

It depends on the game. Its pretty much a 50/50 split last I checked, with both cards trading places by ~10% on individual games.
