Ahhh thanks

Also I cannot get a power slider bar in afterburner unless I set the red skin all the default skins = no power slider no idea if anyone else has the same
So how do we overclock and keep adaptive voltage at the same time ?

you should be able to use any but the v3 ones.

UPDATE : In my previous post i asked what is the max temp for the RX480 as, while i game on Escape From Tarkov i got 77°c.

i replaced the stock TIM with some CLP and i dopped by 23°C. on idle. (from 55 to 32) ph34r-smiley.gif

Max temp is somewhere in the 100c range. 77 is perfectly normal no worries but nice on the temp drop thumb.gif

If that's a standard 4790 and not the 'K' sku w/o an OC on it, you might be surprised what will run off of a 430W power supply.

My HTPC was running 4790K @ 4.6GHz, 16GB 2133 RAM, with mild overclocked 290 @ 1075/1375 cooled with AIO. Whole system was OCd CPU/GPU, 2 water pumps, 6 fans, 2 SSDs, HDD, ODD. I never had any issues..it was a Rosewill Capstone 450W gold unit, which is a little different story. But I still don't think you'd be that close to taxing that PSU even under full gaming load.

Most 470/480 can benefit greatly from an undervolt and can run at stock clocks or even a slight overclock. Undervolt and some tweaking would likely keep power draw in check. It would be a tremendous boost in gaming performance...I would at least attempt it briefly if it was my PC haha 😀

thats very true my 480 does 1300 on 1050mv runs alot cooler and fans run at a much lower rpm even while folding never goes over like 71c.

Picked up a Strix 470 at a price I couldn't refuse. Didn't absolutely need to upgrade ATM, but am very happy I did for the price.

Running 1320/1750 @ 1.056vcore. Have to keep fans much higher than I like under load, as the 60c temp target is hard coded into the card. Not happy about that, but nothing major when I tune the BIOS anyway. This is coming from a jacked up 7850 running 1300/1500 @ 1.3vcore.

Extremely impressed by Polaris. Roughly 4 years after 7970 dropped, we're getting essentially the same compute performance (in the 470), many more features, on chip decode, all at less than half the power consumption, and at least 1/3 of the cost. Too bad AMD couldn't have released it a bit earlier with slightly less MSRP, but were probs waiting on GloFo...

480/470 is most impactful GPU release since GTX 970, and best from AMD since 7950/7850.

5770=6pin

8gb 480=6pin.

Dunno but I guess I can try it and fry it. Base clock on this XFX OC card is 1265. But who knows. I did see people(YouTube) installing 980s in their Dell systems so maybe there will be room enough on its PSU to work. tongue.gif

But I definitely won't try Folding with it. biggrin.gif

Dunno but I guess I can try it and fry it. Base clock on this XFX OC card is 1265. But who knows. I did see people(YouTube) installing 980s in their Dell systems so maybe there will be room enough on its PSU to work. tongue.gif

But I definitely won't try Folding with it. biggrin.gif

Decent 450w psu you'll be fine, you won't fry it unless you do some insane OC and disable safety features that shut it off before that happens

Folding absolutely not..but if you have the reference card with 6 pin, I wouldn't hesitate to drop it in there and undervolt the card to keep keeps and power consumption down. I bet it would run like a top. It's at least worth an attempt to see how it goes IMO.
