i could never get anywhere to hold my rebates for me before, but that would make sense of what he's saying, still cost him more than that otherwise everything i've bought on sale has lead my next purchases to be free too!

This is news to me. My 480 was 250$ and it has been able to run F04, Shadow of Mordor, Tomb Raider, I'd say that's damn decent for a budget card.
Then again I consider budget under 300$ for graphics.
no these days 500-1000 is high end. ridiculous considering those gpus don't even run every game at just 1080p 60fps. what a joke.
iirc the 6970 was ~250 and the gtx 580 was ~300... these new price gauges make me wanna barf
lmao $250 is NOT budget tier hahahaha, budget tier is 460($130) or 1050($150) area performance and price
oh and 1800 for a $#%#ing titan bwahahahahah srsly who pays for this crap?
I will pick up here rather than have a ton of quotes to wade through on the mobile.
I spent $209 on sale at the Egg for my RX 480 8gb card. Turned in the rebate this week, so am looking at a $30 return on the initial investment.
Back when they first launched 5*** series I wanted a 5990 and had it in my cart. But I wanted as much bang for my buck as money was tight at that time. So I got CIVFormula, 955BE, another 1TB Hitachi Deskstar, h50, AMD Greentop 16gb(4x4gb) Dominators, sadly an OCZ 500w PSU and Keyboard, 16gb flashdrive, Logitech g9x and CM gaming mat. Still have everything but the RAM, Cooler, KB (RMA'ed that) and the 500w PSU. I got a lot for the tidy investment of $1300. The cost of Enthusiast GPUs was roughly more than $800. The 1TB drive was $89. I could run it all down as I still maintain every receipt on the build. Needless to say I was happy to score a Reference 5770 for less than $160 at that time. Although I did get a rebate for that card also.
I have my RX480 and block right now. But I am having a seriously difficult time keeping myself from mounting the RX 480 block on it without first running the card and waiting for the backplate that I hope to get soonish. I pre applied the screws to all the mounting points as well as the single slot plate and all TIM strips also. Just have to pull the blue foil pieces off and mount the block. But for now my inner struggle is real
I had a Corsair HX850W in my cart but decided on the 500w unit based on minimum spec of the 5770. In the end I replaced that 500w with the 850w because the OCZ unit simply could not provide enough power for the system to POST. So KB, PSU and a couple other items could've put the 5990 in my hands instead. But I'm glad I avoided the overpriced GPU craze going on back then.
Now I have a high end card for a reasonable price. It's not 1080ti nor Titan X but I don't really need nor want an overpriced GPU anyway. As long as I am averaging 100fps, who cares what I run. 5770 is doing pretty well with high settings on Skyrim. RX 480 will be BEAST
