I do have all the settings fully maxed out at 1050p on Resi 7 and it plays nearly 60fps fine at standard Strix OC settings but I just wrongly assumed that between these two stress testers that one of them would have been able to give me settings i can use for gaming.

I have HWiNFO and have logged one of the times that it crashed. Do we know the upper limits in terms of power draw for this card? wattages, amperages, voltages etc? I can look to see where or why specifically it crashed possibly?

youre not likely crashing due to power draw, just simply cant run 1480 stable at those voltages in games. You always stress test with like heaven or something then move on to game testing to check stability because stress tests aren't enough and don't present the same load a game will.

That card itself can take plenty of voltage, the question is how much can your specific 480 chip and how much would you need to be stable/is it worth it even?

I've been testing out from 1410 and locking out the voltage. i'm up to 1440MHz and all seems well with about 15 mins gameplay which every other test has failed within seconds. (i've gotta go to work now so i'll try 1450 with the locked voltage when i get back. i did initially try 1450 @1.3v but failed instantly upon in-game loading.) Will keep you all posted with the results later when i get back home.

So went back to my 470 bios because I couldn't get the highest state to run at less than 1150mv and VDroop was really bad on my 470 with 570 bios. Setting voltage to 1.2v resulted in 1.158v vs 1.2v like on regular bios under load

Still waiting to be picked up for work so quickly done 1450 locked into 1.237v and it lasted 5 mins and then crashed. 1450 @1.3v crashed again straight away. So it looks like im stable with 1440MHz locked in @ 1.231v.

65c @ 50%rpm. I prefer a quieter machine. I'm sure i saw 35%rpm the other day when I downloaded and stressed FurMark so i think when the settings defaulted, it must have knocked out my personal fan profile settings too in GPU Tweak II. I changed the curve to be quieter and 65c was at 35% previously but hey, its 50% as we speak, better than the turbo jet 100% lol.

I just heard that Nitro 470 can be flashed to Nitro 570. Any clue about reference 470 to 570? What BIOS should I use? Or better not risk it at all, since I don't have dual BIOS switch?

Don't risk it without dual bios and because reference 570 don't exist so different vrms

Hey Heq you have made me decide on my next game tongue.gif I was inclined towards one of the Tom Clancy games anyway so know i'm gonna take the plunge with The Division biggrin.gif

So, you can bench 1500+ but you can 'only' game at 1450 which is 10MHz more than i can get stable.

Does anyone know why when i do 1450@1.3v it is less stable than the lower locked in 1.237v? I thought more voltage within reason made it more stable?

I'm back home now and I'm on the Evaline boss battle when i load back up. So I;m gonna go back in with my 'stable' 1440/2200@1.231V and see how i get on. tongue.gif

I asked in another thread but this one seems more proper as people are actively testing.

Has anyone had luck flashing the MSI Gaming X 480 to the 580 bios or even tried?

I haven't tried to game at 1500 really. I can, but I'm sure I'll have to add some voltage.

Let me go try a quick runaround in the Division and see what happens...if it does OK, I post some video tomorrow. smile.gif
