Just saw that my ASIC is 72%. I keep hearing that Polaris is memory bandwidth starved; if so, what voltage settings would I need to adjust in Wattman to correlate to the memory clock? I see that when switching to manual, the voltage for the memory is 950mW for Stage 2; or will adjusting the Power Limit be enough?. How far are you guys getting? Wattman maxes out at 2250, and apparently some cards are able to get to it.

I think I'm going to skip testing the core clock and just leave it at 1366 as heat is an issue for me. If the special binned GPUs are barely getting past 1450 with tons of power , I think I'll pass with my more mainstream card and go after memory clock, as I'm going to assume that memory scales pretty much the same across all cards, withholding the power phases.

Just saw on GURU3D that the MSI 1060 Gaming X + is able to clock to 10GHz from the new 9GHz memory.

We have no way to control the memory voltage so just increase speed till you get errors or less performance. The memory controller itself just doesn't seem to handle clocking memory high.

Btw what it claims is memory voltage is just memory controller voltage, we don't have voltage control for memory

those samsung chips like to clock high as hell though
mine dont throw up errors at 2145mhz, and only starts artifacting/throwing dozens of memory errors in game past 2230mhz

you just have to keep it cool. without a side fan i can't even get to 2145mhz stable

For clarification, so power limit and the manual voltage setting for the VRAM doesn't matter? It all depends what I can do just by upping the memory clock slider without it crashing?

Exactly, we have no way to adjust memory voltage in software it's all up to just how high can you push the slider.

Thanks for the tip. will give it a shot.

So the Power Limit only affects core clock? And we can adjust core voltage as needed if we were to overclock the core frequency? Sorry for the noob like questions, I haven't worked with Wattman very much.

If you're overclocking at all just push the power limit to max anyway. It may help some with memory clocks

For referenced card, using msi afterburner with add on RX480 Voltage Control 0.1b, any one know how to used it for second card (crossfire), right now only effect for main card/one card.
I already up 1.050v from wattman + 0.100v @1400 from msi afterburner that can work for both card (HIS reference RX480), need more juice for 1500
Thanks.

New Driver

[Guru3D]AMD Radeon Driver 14.4.1

I just finished up my benchmark runs with these drivers. A couple of things to inform you of though.

I've switched to a AMD R5 1600, Corsair Vengence DDR3200 rated kit, and MSI Krait X370 Gaming motherboard. Right now I can't get to the 3200mhz on the RAM. I can get to 2933mhz, but was having a few issues that I didn't feel that was allowing me to be really stable. So all of these were ran at 3.82ghz and 2666mhz on the RAM.

As most know, there are some latency issues on the Ryzen platform, they do vary from MB to MB, as well as the speeds users are getting. Hopefully, these will get taken care of in the next update that is coming in May.

Anyway....at these speeds the benchmarks are a bit of a mixed bag. I didn't have any issues running them, and some scores are better/worse than before. I saw the same results when I ran the newest driver on the GTX1060.

So, take this with a grain of salt....and hopefully things will get better:

XFX RX480 Driver Benchmarks 17.4.4-17.1.1

Cheers cheers.gif
