If you wish to start a 1060 vs 480 argument please take it elsewhere as this is the 480/470/460 owners club. You don't have to like it or want it, but if you're just wanting you argue then you're not welcome. It's a topic that's getting beaten to death elsewhere

Edit: yes it has higher market share, availability on the 480 sucks right now

Agreed, this section is for the RX480/470 and 460 owners because we are the ones that put the money down to own and run them.

Suspect the Nvidia fanboys can't get enough hatred out of their system hence they're always here to spew their bile upon us. Don't care nor want to know anything about their horrid hardware preference, just wish they had that common courtesy to leave us alone to enjoy our chosen Graphics Card.

What's the best RX 480 8GB custom card in your personal opinion in terms of price, noise and performance?
At least for me on water the difference between 1060 and 480 is more than made up for in oc headroom. OC to OC my 24/7 480 oc performs like a top 25 1060 oc in 3d mark. Just saying. OC to OC it's pretty much a wash. I'm somewhat disappointed in the 480s flimsy pcb and poor reference cooler.

i dont think rx 4607080 is designed for water cooling at all it is still too far from the best just rx470 has impressive price/peformance in some places. One rx470 is selling with $164.7 US dollars in my city now.

PowerColor Red Devil. It hard to say on price though because of the horrid state of pricing.

The Strix is a nice card. I do worry that it's back plate doesn't vent behind the card. If it has a thermal pad back there to heat spread great, but the back of my card is 5 to 10 degrees above what the thermal sensor says for the gpu. I wouldn't want to cover up it's air flow without passive cooling. I don't know if they add a thermal pad there or not. XFS's back plate vents the back of the gpu. I think their custom card has holes behind the gpu at least. Sapphire puts a cut out behind the gpu I think on the Nitro. Probably wise. XFS has better RMA policy for cards with water blocks added. I think the strix has a slightly better cooler than the xfs custom black edition, but the black edition comes more heavily overclocked at 1338. They're the same price. I haven't heard many overly great things about the cooling solution on the Nitro. Both the XFS card and the Asus card come with 8pin power connectors. So that's nice I guess. I don't know. If I had to pick one right now I'd probably go with the XFS card.

Edit: I don't know enough about the red devil other than I didn't win one when they had their giveaway. lol

Hi all, is the custom 480 worth waiting another month or two( not available in my region) or should I just get the reference model ? I mean people are recommending the 8-pin versions, but now that the power issue is fixed, shouldn't the reference model be alright in a well ventilated case or are there some doubts as to long term reliabilty ? just wish to know smile.gif
