I have to disagree with you on the "completely destroy" I'm not trying to flame but here's my fire comment. Again, compare my card at 1435 to the average 1060 oc and it will keep up in most things. Watch video of oc to oc rx480 vs 1060 oc in Quantum Break. rx480 kills the 1060 there. (That's the game I'm currently playing.) The decision isn't as clear cut as you make it out to be. Add in crossfire support and 8gig memory and it's a reasonable decision to go with the rx480.

I would love to be able to buy an AMD CPU that can out perform a GTX 1070 for the same price, but it's not going to happen for a while.

I had a reply fail... sorry. Anyway, not sure what your trying t accomplish with an i'm not a flamer but here's my flame type comments. Again, put my 480, which I purchased for $200 after amex rebate, that is overclocked to 1435 against any average 1060. Especially in the games I'm currently playing. Currently I'm playing Quantum Break. 480 kills 1060 oc to oc in that. Add in the ability to crossfire and an extra 2 gig of vmem and the decision isn't quite as clear cut as your making it out to be. I don't regret it. Any graphics card I buy needs to have a full cover block available. Last I checked 1060 didn't have one. Maybe that's changed now. I don't know.

There are rumors of a zen processor with a vega class integrated graphics and HBM2 coming out next year for servers. Not sure on the price. Why do you want integrated graphics "cpu" to beat the 1070 again?

lol better in one game(3 if you count the terribly optimized Hitman, and AOTS) $200 for an 8GB version is definitely worth it. I was talking about the ones that are priced equally. When both cards are $260, it's kind of silly to go with a 480.

I don't even know why I bothered posting the original comment, because neither card is worth buying unless you're a 16 year old working min. wage after school.

Nothing to see here. Consider this. I'm on 1080p until my big screen dies. What more do I really need at 1080p. I run everything at max 60fps now. What is your point? You rx480 owners are poor and dumb for not over spending? Okay. I'm poor and dumb. You got me. You win the internet. In my poorness and dumbness I'm not even sure if you won anything worthwhile. Did you? I'm too dumb to know. I'm sure you'll tell me.

edit: I"m sorry it's been a rough few months with my dad in the hospital and I guess I have a short fuse. I didn't mean to be mean. Sorry.

Not even close to right. The 480 is right there in performance (and pricing for that matter) and will only look better as we move into late 2016 and 2017 with more DX12 games hitting. Yes, the counter-argument is typically something about DX12 being a long ways off, which is false.

Also, source on the 1060 having DOUBLE the market share of the 480? There is no way that is accurate, period. (Hint: Random reddit guy doesn't count)

Let's not feed this please, let it go and keep things on topic as possible. Debate rx480 vs 1060 elsewhere

Just got my first card change in a long time, coming from a GTX670.

Somehow managed to snap one up on a lucky check while at work and saved myself $100AUD buying it from Newegg out of Australia.

got it running at 1300@1.05v and 2100 @ 0.975 with 10% on the power limit and 1800rpm and stays at a nice 70-75 with the sub 10 degree celsius weather we have atm.

Does anyone know if theres any ghetto modifications to make the blower fan perform better other than going full custom and full speed?

That's about all you can do, blower fans just aren't that great

It depends on your video setting in game and cpu, assume both have more than enough ram.

I used to undervolt my memory controller too for better bench performance, but I found too many memory errors during pstate changes. You getting any? I might have to revisit the undervolt memory setting and test with the latest drivers. They changed vdroop on 16.8.1 so maybe it works better now. it sure saves on temp on air I have to say. People were saying in the 4 to 7 degree range for reapplying TIM with something like GC-Extreme. Something to consider it may help. But those are nice settings.
