Well - Finally put the another RX 480 in the Setup - A few things to take care.-

The original thermal pads of the Sapphire RX 480 reference, are **** - Well the first time I made the custom AIO water don't have any problem - This happend with the second one.-

Start the PC, put the unlocked Bios - Check temps all normal - But when start to make test the power draw start to stutter say ***! I have the same max TDP as usual - Check VRM temps and was OK - So I decided to disarm the video card and check inside - Nothing important on the view - Only see one, yes one... of the VRM don't touch very tight the thermal pad, so change the position of the pad and assemble again - Problem solved! - Probably one of the VRM start to fail with high temp - I can't see it in the HWiNFO because only check the temp of 1 VRM.-

The thermal pads are very thin in my opinion and can easily fail.-

About the final overclock was 1400 mhz Core - with 2170 Mhz of Mem - And 1.22v in "theory" in practice with the vdrop its 1.215 - When I have only 1 video card with 1.200v (1.95v) don't have any problem but with the crossfire the vdrop probably its a big larger so need a few more mV so 1.22v in this case.-
The temps are 60º + - 5º in the GPU and in the VRM 70º + - 10º .-

About the personal conclusion was a interesting proyect - Very cheaper and good performance I have a monitor with 1440p so the RX 480 was a good option, the cheaper price of the RX 480 reference was ideal to do this AIO water solution with a few zip ties.-

In non gaming situation the noise of the PC its extreme quiet, in gaming I dont really pay attention usually use high volume or just the head-sets at night but its very quiet - And the most important thing is when you stop playing you dont have the **** fans spining like the hell 10 or 15 minutes more to get cold - I love that you stop the game and in 1 minute all its quiet again.-

---

About the AIO Water its a Maelstrom 120k - I try more overclock with the single card, but the relation cost/performance in terms of temperature and voltage in my opinion not worth it at all more than 1400 mhz - Probably with a real water block you can get a few mhz more - this in basic its a plug & play setup quick clock setup, a few mV more - Unlocked bios and start playing.-

(Yeah the next month I will put the AIO water for the CPU - The old corsair die after 4 years)

Thanks specially to Greytoad to help me in the first parts of my overclocks - Of course I will be here to share any experience about crashes, the **** wattman, high temps, hangs, burn smell and all the typical things happend with the RX 480 rolleyes.gif

Had pounced on a 480... decided to order it from another site instead. Now I get my 480 in three days.

There is a GPU Memory Errors entry.

Run a good stress test. With GDDR5, you usually won't notice visual artifacts from memory errors, but mostly computational errors. GDDR5 is basically ECC memory.

Cheers for that,

Gave it a run on time spy, heaven and fire strike basic after that 30 minutes of ROTTR - hwinfo shows 0 GPU memory errors. Looks like im in the clear and I might be able to squeeze some more out of it.

Take care about the way to test memory errors a few post ago I do a research about that the benchmarks usually don't generate too much memory errors because the optimization - My recomendation to find memory errors use "Metro Last Light Redux" max settings you can disable PshyX and SSAA and check with that game - Its one of the most sensitives games with memory errors.-

If you have memory errors like looncraz say, you will not notice any artifacs but the performance go to the floor because the memory make again the call of that fail information and that generate a loop of waste.-
For example with 2170 mhz of mem vs 2250 I get more performance in 2170 mhz because at 2250 an similar the memory errors was huge.-

Where do I find the memory errors in HWiNFO?....I am either blind...or not sure of which entry I should be looking for...lol biggrin.gif

480 beats the 1060 in Deus EX Mankind Divided. Yes that was a AMD sponsored title, but it seems just about any dx12 title the 480 is ahead. Both cards are a little light on performance for 1440p. With a nice overclock it's probably ok. It's looking more and more like a 2nd rx480 would be a good idea. If only I could find a reference one for a decent price ($260 or under).

@kkiet There are p-state changes in the firestrike Ultra bench. I couldn't get through that without memory errors with an undervolt so I gave up. I'll I've to look at undervolting the memory again if you can. I'd also follow GekoTDF's advice about where to look for memory errors. The card changes p-states a lot in Metro Last Light and that does a good job testing for memory errors. I have to say they that the "ecc" can only find 1 and 2 bit errors. if the whole block is being set wrong I"m not so sure. That could be my problem.

@GekoTDF 2 rx480s overclocked to 1400. That's really nice. If and when I find another card I'll probably drop my overclock to about where you're at. I'd be worried about power use on the motherboard at my current overclock.

Ah....OK.

Guess I'll have to wait when I put the new card in and take a look.

Thanks thumb.gif

EDIT: I know this is off topic, but it has peaked my interest. Is there any test to check for errors for nVidia cards. The only thing I found was the EVGA OC Scanner. I ran the Furmark test for the GPU Memory. Here are the results: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
