I have my doubts that this was an altruistic way to get people out in the air. I think they realized that they could use modern tech to simulate the base activity of a popular franchise and started envisioning rivers of cash. To their credit, it seems to be working. Nintendo stock has doubled since the beginning of the month.
I could have an easier time accepting the statement if there actually WAS a battle system. A way for people to play a game and meet people, in stunning real-real-world 3D, along the way. Instead we have an app that could only exacerbate the epidemic of the 'phone drone'. By that I mean people who are so addicted to their phone they no longer pay attention to their surroundings. This could range from someone refusing to socialize at a get-together to that one person you see bumping their way through people in a crowded mall, to someone taking a life because they didn't notice the stop sign.
There are already reports of people being hurt and even attempting break-ins because of virtual property in a video game? When did society become so utterly stupid? I am not an intellectual but when I read things like this I feel like with a little effort I could invent time travel or answer the mysteries of the universe.
