But now that I've checked, I'm pretty sure OC vs OC 1070 will definitely be a downgrade, if Guru3D's result is any indication (they OC'd their 1070 to 1975-2050 core and 9200 mem):

19955 graphics score

but thats without Async and DX11, with the new test give 1070 a boost, So it might overtake OC vs OC

I think everyone agrees that from a feature perspective, the 1070 definitely beats the 980 Ti. Both VR and DX12 titles will run better on the 1070. However, for DX11, the 980 Ti does edge out the 1070 when both are overclocked to their max.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Well 1070 is 13.6% faster than 980 Ti, but I dunno if that's with async on or not. Assuming async wasn't on, we can add another 6% so the lead opens up to 20%. Add another 10% for OC and OC 1070 vs stock 980 Ti would have about a 30% lead.

I'm honestly not sure how 980 Ti OC scales in Time Spy, but if it scales anywhere near the way it does in DX11, I'd say OC vs OC the two would be a wash under DX12, but the 980 Ti would have a definite lead under DX11.

Anyway, simply driving home the fact that 980 Ti to 1070 is a sidegrade at best, and even a downgrade at worst. So definitely not worth it.

I'm going to do some runs tonight with some high clocks on these TXs and see if i can muster past an OC 1070 , i think i will by about 5% or more but yeah i'm picking i'll be about 20% behind an OC 1080 thanks to that 6% boost its getting from pre-emption etc. Be interesting to see.

Truth be told I will get more use (even if I had an AMD card) out of 3dMark than I would AotS. I like playing around with benchmarks. It doesn't require me to sit at my computer the entire time when I need to be doing something else, yet I still get enjoyment from my computer.

Agreed, I'm quite excited to see a new 3dmark bench out. Now Unigine needs to get on the ball and release a Valley successor.

Btw for those who might care, if you already have 3DMark Advanced Edition, then the Time Spy upgrade is free. smile.gif

Forget what I said about a consistent bench. Jeez.

I cannot get back up to my very first run of 4333 GPU: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/13195897

Hovering around 4100 GPU even on a clean boot. It's just as variable a bench as Firestrike now.
