Someone posted an article here on OCN about the NEO coming due to a change in AMD's manufacturing, forcing Sony to adjust or invest heavily to keep things as they were. I don't recall details though.

Devs tend to overhype console ALOT people thinking 6TF is going to be enough to run 4k native at 30 FPS...

Fact is this every gpu they toss in there is a poor mans version of a gpu thats out at full and i dont see the console doing 4k native heck xb1 and ps4 has issues running 1080p/60fps and now since they mentioning 4k everyone is now jumping the gun like these consoles going to be dumb powerful...I can say i can see them doing upscaled 4k from 1080p/4k maybe with higher settings but not native

Just my opinion either way im not to hyped about it because in the time of release its going to be even more outdated then it already is...

Lesson 1 never fall for sony/ms hype train because you will get derailed quickly...Remember back when they said "oh yea these consoles will do 1080p/60fps easy..Welp that went down the train

It's nice that they tried to make the crests and waves more detailed, and they even do swells that look half natural, but the water itself looks horribly unrealistic to me. perhaps they added too much sun reflection/cresting and effects or something. I dunno, whatever they did it makes that water look funky...

None of that makes sense.

TLDR version:

They used a lot of the same techniques used by the screenshot archers of Skyrim use. If those same shaders, filters, sampling, etc. etc. If applied to the game, The FPS would be around 5, and/or your eyes would melt from the massive amount of sharpening, and/or it would looks like total garbage from any other angle or lighting scenario.

Probably a combination of all the above.

Any game that's designed to run at 4K will run at 4K.

Heck, with a 980Ti (slightly less power than Scorpio) I've been playing DOOM downscaled by just 19% from 4K at about 100FPS average (so that should be 3456x1944 resolution if the downscaling in DOOM is calculated by total pixel count).
Graphics settings are almost all on low or off (shadows and particles don't affect framerate for some reason, they go Ultra), but the game still looks great, and it's absolutely rock solid smooth.
I wish I was getting an actual 120hz output, I'll probably move back to an overclocked 2560x1440 monitor eventually, but at least running 100FPS eliminates most of the lag for the frames you do have.
Practically speaking we can run modern games well beyond 4K right now... If they're optimised well enough, which DOOM certainly is.

The question is not "can" it be done, but "should" it be done.

I think 4K is a general graphical improvement on just about everything, but there certainly are plenty of game genres that would not significantly benefit from increased resolution.
id Software would have no trouble at all running DOOM at 4K on Scorpio, and they probably should run DOOM in 4K. Whether or not the next Mortal Kombat or Candy Crush should be run in 4K is a good question, but thet important thing for us to remember is it's a question of game design, not hardware.

PC isnt scorpio tho thats what im trying to say and never believe everything micro soft says.. People really havent learned with the xb1 i guess....I could be wrong but from consoles history most likely im right and i called it before the xb1 came out everyone was hyping the console all over the place and lol its struggling to do 60fps at 1080p alot....Im just saying when they say "native 4k" take that with a BIG grain of salt...

When the XB1 released with its 1.23TFLOPS GPU we already had the R9 290X with its 5.63TFLOPS, thats too big of a gap, the XB1 GPU was simply underpowered even on release day.

For Scorpio the gap should be much less, 6TFLOPS vs (~10TFLOPS?? for Big Vega).

Thats still bad and what people seem to miss is that since the console will have 6TF that doesnt mean it will do 4k native..My thinking is its going to be a poor mans version of a gpu thats been gutted out ..This is all guesses right now but with MS keeping the price sorta cheap i dont see them adding anything crazy in this machine and i can see alot of buyers being meh after launch due to how its performance is going to be......Thats why i neverrrrrrr fall for the console hype because i know the end product is something thats different from what the first rumors is ...

Running 4K natively =/= 4K/UHD at max settings and 60FPS.

For example a GTX980/R9 390X can run 4K fine on medium to high settings with no AA while getting 30+ FPS.
