Can I still use my watercooling supplies after 6 months in storage?

Thread Starter
Hi, I took apart my loop about half a year ago and decided to use my watercooling supplies again for my next build. I want to reuse the parts I previously had which were a radiator, a swiftech apogee waterblock, and an aquacomputer r9 290.

I am concerned about reusing the blocks because looking at my r9 290 waterblock, I can see that it has discoloured and I am concerned that it would ruin everything if I try to reuse the parts again.

Is reusing the parts fine, or should I just order new parts?

Thanks,
Sesameopen

Did you clean them up before storing them?

Depends on how you define "clean". I "cleaned" them by just flushing with distilled water and putting them in a ziploc bag

Can you post a picture? "Discolored" to me is either some sort of calcium deposit or corrosion. And then, I'm not even sure if you should run like CLR through the block (never tried that before, this could be terrible advice).

It looks something along the lines of this I found this on the internet:

The fins are noticeably darker than when I first got them

You should be fine. If you want to go the safest route, do a flush with Mayhems Blitz when you install. That should get you cleaned up nicely.

Should I do the same with the other items such as my radiator?

Should I open up the cpu block and clean it out, or will it be fine?

Blitz Pt 2 is used on the entire loop. You install the loop, fill with Blitz, run it for 24 hr, drain, then flush with distilled 2-3 times. You then fill normally. Obviously, it cleans everything.
