4K Freesync / Gysnc - Budget Included - Page 2

Right now my dual RX480s are powering an LG 27UD88-W. I can't recommend this monitor enough. It is one hell of a monitor.

You can get the LG 27UD68-W which has the same exact panel but without any USB-C 3.0 connectivity or any tilt/rotation. This monitor is $200 cheaper than the 27UD88-W.

Freesync 4K for $500 or less? Your best bet is the 27UD68.

Pretty sure the AG is no thicker than the ones you find on the 1440p 144hz AHVA monitors.
That's because it probably isn't. It's the other way around: the Acer and Asus 34'' 1440p 21:9 monitors all have slightly less hazy AG coatings.

I wouldn't recommend a crossfire RX480. Crossfire (or SLI) with "low" or "mid" performance cards used with an 4k monitor (or greater) isn't very clever at all.
This technology is for enthusiasts who can't find a single gpu card which will provide enough power to play on settings far beyond mainstream.

http://www.10stripe.com/featured/quick/sli-crossfire.php

There are to many cons for using midrange cards in crossfire/sli mode. You have more trouble than fun.
Your decission to buy a single card is in fact a good one.

How importand is 144Hz to you?
Maybe you want to take a look at the Asus ROG Swift PG27AQ.
Gsync, 27", 4k but 60Hz.

Thread Starter
I just bought the XB321HK. At $1080 with no tax I couldn't pass it up. I figure even if 4K 120hz comes out in the next year the cost will be double anyway. I do love 1440 and it was tough to pass on the x34. I'm going to try and power it with a 1080 amp extreme, but I feel it may end up taking two. Thanks for the help!

Well than congratulation to your new hardware! smile.gif

One advise (if you didn't already read): don't panic if your 1080 produces some stuttering in some situations.

It's a bit annoying but just a driver issue and they are working on it.

Nice. Yea, saving $120 compared to the x34 is hard to pass up. Should be a really great gaming experience.
