Min Liang Tan's vacant smile says it all.

The PTE in the mamba/diamondback can track well, despite the Z-axis problem. For normal use, I don't think it would be a problem for many users as long as you properly calibrate it to the pad and set LOD to the lowest setting.

Z-axis issue is the least of its issue. Try making small movements on a high CPI setting.

It's not irony, it's standard manipulation. When you do [x] action, you accuse other parties of that action to avert the attention from yourself.

It also uses the idea that blaming party absolutely cannot be guilty.

I, for one, trust Razer to bring me the best in light up mouse pads.

"We don't believe in hindering high sensitivity players through interpolation, we'd rather turn everyone's mouse into garbage with Synapse."

We do NOT and have never interpolated any of our mouse sensors which all operate at the true native DPI

I suppose he doesn't account for tricks that push a specific sensor model beyond the original circumvented limitation. rolleyes.gif

His statement is otherwise correct though, Razer has never really artificially raised CPI beyond what is offered to them by manufacturer...
Quote:
At Razer, we pioneered the use of high DPI sensors when we invented the world's first gaming mouse and till today, our scientists work closely with the sensor vendors.

...Unless you count the original viper which bumps DPI 200 via unofficial lens.
Quote:
Many of our sensors are exclusive to us before we release it one generation later to the market to other companies.

After Logitech turns down or has initial exclusivity of certain hardware designs. HI DB 2004.

So in short, even if the DPI numbers are the same or even higher, not all mice are created equal as many vendors out there use interpolated numbers. So, don't get scammed.

This is grey area. There are sensors that are capable of higher resolutions via hardware constraints but not supported officially by manufacturer. The issue would implementation and or if manufacturer ties are stronger than assumed with certain brands (e.g. steelseries).

However, while interpolation allows vendors to report a higher DPI, it in fact results in jittering, skipping and inaccuracy of the mouse - just think about it, double counting isn't going to make it any more accurate but in fact, allows for more resolution errors.

Higher DPI values in general are going to show errors without artificially thinning out the top range. I mean yes, it's not going to staircase, but it's the same level of inaccuracy imho.

Technically, though, shouldn't what he's describing be called "extrapolation" instead?

Think so.

What they pulled with Synapse on 3.5G mice is absolute bollox (and enraging imo as the hardware itself is quite OK at 1800 dpi without Synapse).
