ZALMAN ZM-GM4 gaming mouse doesn't recognize software tool?

Recently purchased a Zalman ZM-GM4 gaming mouse and am having issues with the software. It doesn't recognize the changes I attempt to make such as changing key functions and DPI switch settings.

I've made sure that there's no conflicting drivers/software conflicting with this.

Also reinstalled software (from the website....even though Zalman hasn't apparently updated the software past v1.0 since it was released 2 and a half years ago...) to double-check the issue.

I've also changed USB ports several times to eliminate that possibility.

I downloaded and tried some other generic mouse-handling software, but they aren't nearly as flexible or able. (no DPI settings or ability to recognize more than 5 buttons)

Several website specify that compaitbility is for windows 8 and previous....and I'm on Windows 10...maybe that's the reason?

Did you install the zalman driver before plugging in the mouse?
Try uninstalling the mouse and all the driver software ("delete driver during uninstall" checkbox), re-install zalman software (compatibility mode maybe?), disable AV, plug in mouse.

My razer deathadder required a setup order like above to work properly.

That doesn't sound right to me. Is this the driver you are using?

Technically no. I used another direct link on the site to get the software.

I did try that link download beforehand, but i didn't know what to open it with. It's some PHP file. There's something I'm missing for sure

I'm gonna fiddle around with some other software as substitutes.

Will update progress.

BUMP

So I can't really find a way to configure the mouse the way I want to with other software.

The main concern is the fact that the ZALMAN software doesn't recognize my DPI changes.
