I took a second look at the GPUView screenshots FM provided. You can clearly see the 1080 requires 2.08x more compute resources over the fury. 36.69%(1080) v 18.11%(Fury).
edit: It's utilization over time so it takes the 1080 2.08x more time to process the compute queue over the fury. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Fury Compute_0 18.11%
\
1080 Compute_1 37.69%

This is interesting but please explain exactly what it means. I seem to have lost the context of this point somewhere in translation or somewhere earlier in the thread.

You edited it in...thanks.

The fury's compute queue is practically empty for most of the run.The 1080 requires a lot more time to perform the same compute tasks as the fury. Also my bad gapottoberg I edited that quote before I even saw your comment.

So if FM actually adds the amount of average ms that it takes to calculate the compute tasks, we would really see what's going on. Much better than slapping a score on there and everybody assuming nVidia is better.

Agreed. It's DX11 with the added basic async, using two queues only. Quite funny, considering a significant portion of AMD cards have a total of eight asynchronous compute engines.

why people says it is coded for DX11 or it isnt DX12 benchmark? because of FL11_0?

The only reason they called it DX12 is because they used the DX12 API. The barely used any features that highlight the benefits of DX12.
Personally I don't want a "DX 12" benchmark that favors any brand of hardware. What I would want is a "DX 12" benchmark. For GPU's I have 980 TI's and Fury X's on the CPU front I will admit currently I only use Intel.

That said... if someone has a benchmark that is advertised as DX 12 AND they are pimping a purchase option based on that. Then the benchmark best not be a DX 11 benchmark with a few DX 12 options thrown in somewhere.

So based on that I would be interested in what is actually in this benchmark... as opposed to some "brand" discussion.

*edit* For clarity what I mean by "What I would want is a "DX 12" benchmark." Is that I want something that has the DX 12 instructions and the results simply land where they should based on how well my hardware supports DX 12. As opposed to specific coding to favor a "brand".

The sooner everybody realizes that Ashes of the Singularity is really the only acceptable benchmark, the better.
