So you've heard of me I see haha. Once you get used to the 144, the 100 just feels a small bit stuttery. Not a huge deal though to me

Bahahaha.

OK, right? It's not the difference of 1Hz vs 45Hz (still a 45Hz drop), but it's noticeable. I might have missed it; are you using Lightboost or ULMB on your 248QE?

I am not actually. I mean it's only minorly noticeable, not enough for me to go out of my way to fix it by lowering settings ya know

Sure, sure. Right; I think that was what started this entire confusion. I think FPS < Hz, even by 100FPS @ 120Hz, is only noticeable on ULMB/LB--not standard sample-and-hold. I apologize for the massive confusion this has caused in the thread, frown.gif

EDIT: whoops, I missed posts again. I just do not understand OCN's notification system sometimes.

With traditional 120Hz displays, you see the frame for the full 8.3ms while on LB/ULMB mode, you'd see the frame for only ~1.4ms and for the 6.9ms left of the 8.3ms refresh, it's black/off.

That's the only difference; it's within a single refresh. I think stutters--but correct me if I'm wrong--last at least a few frames, right? Like, a stutter is a change it takes to render consecutive frames, right? I'm not sure.

However, I think once ULMB/LB is maxed out (120FPS @ 120Hz), you get the benefits of CRT motion clarity + G-SYNC frame syncing (more by chance than actual synchronization, though). Anything that breaks that clarity or FPS = Hz vibe is much easier to notice, IMO.

I'd test it myself if not for the fact the OSD controls on my panel died within 6 months of use. rolleyes.gif That's Acer quality for ya. rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

I'd RMA the panel but I'm genuinely concerned they might just send me someone else's RMA. rolleyes.gifrolleyes.gifrolleyes.gif

I was surprised with ASUS' RMA; I'd heard horror stories with their motherboard RMA department.

My HDMI port went out (or it never worked, haha, as I used to be DisplayPort only) and the new monitor I got was 100% retail, brand-new. Retail box and all. And the craziest part? They only wanted the monitor back, sans stand. So, now, hahaha, I have two stands, two manuals, two CDs, etc., haha.

I've never used Acer's RMA process, but we have a few Acer laptops scattered around here.

Sadly, I only know that LB can be triggered with software. I think ULMB does require you to go into the OSD, frown.gif

I think it's about time to "add a non-steam game to my library", rename it "Battlefield 1 Closed Beta", and troll for suckers on my friends list. tongue.gif
Some friends and I made a grown man cry doing that with the BF3 alpha.
