thanks in advance

I would expect a 290X to do 60 fps avg ... not a big deal, especially once drivers mature a bit.

I would also advise you to stop thinking in "Ultra" terms, as each game has completely different settings. In case of the BF1, I would think that it looks far better than BF4 even @ custom medium / high settings. A reason for that are the high resolution / sharper textures.

In 1440p and panels 27" or smaller especially, AA starts becoming far less important. Especially as textures become bigger and more detailed - which is the case with BF1.
You could tweak settings and get a great game experience with VERY impressive gfx and do 90+ FPS @ 1440p, what would require a 1070 if you were to insist on Ultra presets.

"Running everything @ Ultra or go home" is abused too much by people that want an excuse to buy new hardware, or just want a reason to brag about their purchases.

I have to admit that as I was waiting for my 1070 to be delivered, I had to use my backup rig with a 750Ti to game on...mainly BF4...yes, I switched to a 1080p and med/high settings, but the game was still looking pretty good and FPS were kept 100% competitive. Would you rather run high/ultra settings @ 30 fps or 90+ fps? On a humble 750Ti? I would pick the latter anyday.
