Nice card but still waiting for non-ref for both 1060 and RX 480 before I take my pick.
That power consumption tho... Very nice nVidia! I might pick the mobile version for my laptop!

Yeah, the power requirements for these cards are pretty nice. I think the Mobile versions will basically be underclocked versions of the dGPU. Which means one can expect performance to be fairly similar to the Desktop counterpart.

So basically a GTX 980 with less OC headroom for $250... I guess not bad? However you can pick up used 980s for the same price. The only benefits would be 2GB more VRAM which doesn't matter in this mid range segment and DX12 which remains to be fully explored as there are limited titles atm.

$200 would have meant the death of the RX480.

I'm not a fanboy or whatsoever, but guys, the 1060 is killing the RX480. DX12 is used in like 1% games today. And no, we are not all going to play just new games. We are going to play 99% games that do not support DX12. And in Europe, 1060 is cheaper than RX480.

Speaking of 1060, even if it has lower DX12 performance, it's going to be 10% slower at max in those games, but 10% faster in others. So what are you gonna do?

$200 would make it competitive to the 480, the current price just makes the 480 look better. As both cards will stomp 1080P, but the 480 as a whole just brings more for the money. I wouldn't be surprised to see AIB 480s that are on par with a 1060 in raw performance, but still cost less.

The 1060 pricing compared to the 480 is a bit of show again by Nvidia. They are flaunting their dominance by abusing our wallets a little bit.

More RAM, runs cooler, takes less power, smaller, too..

6% slower in the 99% of DX11 games is killing it, while the 480 can be had for $50 or $100 cheaper (FE) than the 1060?

The AIB 480's will be $249, while having 8GB of Vram, and will not be power or thermal limited.. Head to head the AIB 480's are probably going to beat the 1060's under DX11. They are competitive with each other, i don't understand how one is a "failure' or getting "destroyed" or 'killed", and the other is a monumental success..
