The AIB 480's will be $249, while having 8GB of Vram, and will not be power or thermal limited.. Head to head the AIB 480's are probably going to beat the 1060's under DX11. They are competitive with each other, i don't understand how one is a "failure' or getting "destroyed" or 'killed", and the other is a monumental success..

the 480 so far shows a strong lead in dx12 / vulkan titles which is important because that's where the industry is heading. even battlefield 1 is going to support dx12 and that's going to be a huge title. aib's are going to be releasing 8gb cards with nice overclocks as default. performance increases that will help the 480 match the 1060 in older dx11 titles.

amd's mistake was forcing aib's to hold off. amd released a substandard reference design that spurred controversy. to be fair reference designs on both ends had historically been terrible but nvidia as of late has stepped it up a bit. amd really needs to catch on to releasing a decent reference design now or let aib release their cards day one.

Yes, of course. RX480 (8.1% faster than 970) is equal to 970. GTX 1060 (7.5% faster than 480) is "killing" the 480. Don't you love that logic lol

EVGA 1060 SC is 259.99 with a 10.00 rebate now. Clocks great too, check out jayztwocents review on it. I think its a great card for the money, bummer on the SLI though.

I think many in this price range upgrade every few years, not every year. So, future performance gains are just as important as how they perform now, in my opinion.

I find the two cards to be similar in performance and price. But, I think waiting for the custom 480 is wise.

Idk about nvidia "stepped it up". Theyre charging a premium and the only adequate cooler they've done is the 1060.

He is one of the ones that stated AMD would have to redesign the pcb to fix the power issue. He's an idiot IMO, I watched one video of his when he was reviewing Vardar fans. He taped a piece of paper on to it to test airflow... No reason to watch any more videos after that.

Nvidia not allowing SLi on the 1060 is a profit motivated move, at least that would be my guess. Frankly it sucks, especially at a time when multi-gpu support should be getting a lot better. The 480 supporting Crossfire is a big bonus over the 1060.

Yup, especially for EVGA. But his review seems on par with all the other youtubers, Paul's, and awesomesauce. Haven't checked out Linus yet. OC3D has a good one on the strix, it seems to have the best cooler, and has an 8 pin on there as well.

Not that long ago people believe Kyle made up stories for clicks.

After 10 years on that forum I got banned for comments I made about BFG which was sponsoring them at the time. A cpl years back when I was considering a AMD card I spoke to one of their reviewers who wasn't Kyle. So I'm pretty leery in terms of anything they say. If ASUS put out a motherboard that sprayed liquid molten mercury at people it would still get a gold award.
