1080 Amp Extreme

Thread Starter
I just received a 1080 Amp Extreme I bought off Ebay. The ASIC is 99.6% - which is easily the highest I've seen on cards I purchased. Let's see if it matters.

Problem: When I game it sits at 1772 and doesn't boost. The boost is supposed to be 1911, but I don't see any jump in Afterburner while gaming. Also GPU-Z just reads idle 764 MhZ and the sensor only reads 1772 as well.

Any ideas? Is there a switch?

I don't think anything can read ASIC correctly yet on Pascal.

What do you have Power Management mode set to in NVIDIA Control Panel? Try adaptive or prefer max performance, not optimal.

I changed it to Max Performance. I ran a few tests and I still see it sitting at 1171/1172. I don't see a boost.

I have the very same card here. Idle 316mhz, 3d bench or gameload boost clocks is around 2060mhz.

I have to ask, did you use DDU to uninstall old drivers?

Was this a new or used card?

It was slightly used. It doesn't seem like it's boosting at all. I removed all old drivers, restarted, and then updated to latest NVIDIA drivers.

It shouldn't matter if its used, Most probably a software problem. Try reinstalling the card then the drivers.

The previous owner could have been messing with BIOS. Those boost clocks are controlled by BIOS. Driver does not control them.

What you could do is ask someone with the same card download their BIOS, and send it to you, and then you can re-flash your card with it.

Here is my 1080 amp extreme. Does your bios version, device ID, and subvendor match ?

Here is the screenshot from my GPU-Z.

Bios Version is: 86.04.17.00.BA

Also a lot is shown as Unknown and the GPU clock shows 764 with a default of 734. It never changes. If you go to sensors it shows 1771.5mhz but never boosts.

@Humafold - First off, your GPU-Z is absolutely ancient. Please update it and take another screenshot.
