[TechSpot] France gives Microsoft three months to stop Windows 10 from collecting "excessive" user data - Page 10

If you yunguns are willing to trade your freedom and privacy for a few trinkets and toys , you will get what you deserve .
Many people have died fighting for the freedoms that you are throwing away , just because these American mega companies do things , does not prevent it from being illegal or immoral .
I will not be around much after Win7 gets canned , so the results of those that are willing to give up their freedom will not affect me , but I do have grandkids that it will affect .
If you believe in freedom at least try to do something , write to your local politicians and such , even contact M.S. let them know you are not happy about it - it may not work but doing nothing should not be an option !

As it stands I'll not use 10. I've given Microsoft my complaints.

The pushing us into upgrading is making things far worse for me. Attempting to force us to update speaks volumes about their intentions.

The new processors only supporting 10. Trying to get us to accidentally upgrade. Locking games to win 10 only.

Whatever happened to getting people on board with features that pull them in. Is it asking to much to have control over ones hardware and personal data? I feel if we all give them that they will just ask for more.

Exactly. Those decisions do apply to Google, Facebook, Apple, etc. Google especially has gotten a lot of beat downs from the French court and the EU on various issues. Which is why their data collection is so locked down and anonymized as it is.

Bingo, thats one of the main problems. MS himself admitted that telemetry cant be turned off(except for server maybe but im not sure).

Thank you for posting this, as someone that was born into and raised in a military family, I know exactly where you are coming from. As someone that does not use any form of popular social media or use any platform that collects data (google, Apple) let alone posted a picture of myself anywhere on the open web, I hold my privacy rights in the highest regard possible. I refuse to use anything that puts those rights in jeopardy or compromises them altogether. Microsoft made that clear to me when they are collecting data on the file names of pictures stored in the "My Pictures" folder on Windows 10, I will not subject myself to such draconian data mining.

I will agree with that people are trading away their privacy for trinkets and toys (Direct X 12) as that is literally the only thing new it brings to the consumer market. There is nothing I can't do with Windows 7 that Windows 10 can apart from DX12.

And if Vulkan takes off, that'll be the last nail in the coffin for Win 10.

Which means Macrohard will try their damned hardest to stifle its development and adoption.

I found it funny how this article claimed the analysis was bogus. Which while it was, there was ONE thing they did right, and that's that they gave a decent list of IP's a Windows 10 install tries to phone to. All those to throw into a router/firewall level hosts file biggrin.gif

Those addresses are still blocked in China, which means the government here does not trust M$py under any circumstance, regardless of what those IP's are.

For the last time, Microsoft cannot curb your freedoms. They are a corporation not the government. They can only dictate what you do if you use their products, which you are totally free not to. None of our brave soldiers that went into battle to fight for our freedoms did so to make sure that your porn folders couldn't be looked at by some bored engineer at Redmond. This is just such a ridiculous and made up premise.
