Many people have died fighting for the freedoms that you are throwing away , just because these American mega companies do things , does not prevent it from being illegal or immoral .
I will not be around much after Win7 gets canned , so the results of those that are willing to give up their freedom will not affect me , but I do have grandkids that it will affect .
If you believe in freedom at least try to do something , write to your local politicians and such , even contact M.S. let them know you are not happy about it - it may not work but doing nothing should not be an option !
Thank you for posting this, as someone that was born into and raised in a military family, I know exactly where you are coming from. As someone that does not use any form of popular social media or use any platform that collects data (google, Apple) let alone posted a picture of myself anywhere on the open web, I hold my privacy rights in the highest regard possible. I refuse to use anything that puts those rights in jeopardy or compromises them altogether. Microsoft made that clear to me when they are collecting data on the file names of pictures stored in the "My Pictures" folder on Windows 10, I will not subject myself to such draconian data mining.
I will agree with that people are trading away their privacy for trinkets and toys (Direct X 12) as that is literally the only thing new it brings to the consumer market. There is nothing I can't do with Windows 7 that Windows 10 can apart from DX12.
