Maybe they'll move to Volta early.

they would only move to Volta early 1) AMD has something up their sleeves to compete 2) for some magical reasons, they are getting much higher yield in the last 2months. there is a 50/50 with a 1080 TI.

But after getting an Oculus Rift, I realize, yes it's OK, but I want better. I looked at the 1080, but people were still not able to get MAX graphics setting with a single 1080 in VR. When the Titan XP was announced, and looking at the specs, I knew it will do MAX Graphics @ 90fps and then some. The choice was clear.

My second reason for jumping to the Titan XP was the 3x 4k monitors.
May i ask what VR Game you were trying to run that 2 980tis couldnt handle?

Long time lurker, finally decided to sign up and see if I can contribute to the knowledge-base.

Quick questions to people who've managed to use their EVGA Hybrid (TXM,980 Ti) Coolers on the Titan X Pascal. How difficult was the setup process on the new Titan VS the old? I'm not very experienced with custom loops and things like that, but I do have a Titan XM with a EVGA 980 Ti Hybrid Kit on it? How difficult was the transition? Anything delicate that I would need to worry about compared to the older Titan?

TXP is a beast even without the OC, but the fan noise is too much.

It won't be as hard as a custom loop but you will still need to take the time to make sure you install it properly. A bad installation may mean artifacts and other problems,

There are NO VR SLI games. So any games that is in VR only can use 1 GPU.

The only "game" that run VR SLI is VR Funhouse from Nvidia, but you need 2 10-Series card + a dedicated PhysX card. (that is exactly what I have now, a SLI Titan XP + 980TI)

Game like PCars, in VR with a 980TI, I had to pretty much run every down to medium with a Pixel Density setting of 1.3, which avg about 68fps, but since the Rift ATW it helps get it back to 90fps

Even if they drop a TI, how many of you would actually pay 900 - 1000 for a DX11 card when Volta will be out in less than a year with full DX12 compliance? Or even Vega will be out soonish...

All these pricing make the 980ti godly at 650 on release for its performance. That's not gonna happen again.

So no harder than the Maxwell Titan X? That installation was easy enough, just trying to find out if there will be any surprises along the way.

Eraser putty?

edit: what about a thin adhesive thermal pad?

they should make copper (insert soft conducting metal of choice here) tipped pencils.... So you can reverse pencil mod

like this.. but wonder how hard it is and what the metal is

http://www.wired.com/2010/09/neither-pen-nor-pencil-write-endlessly-in-metal/

edit- watched the video it seems to be lead based, was hoping for a winner!
