1-3* would hardly be worth the effort. 10* variance between stock and high-end tim is not unheard of and quite common with clu, kryonaut and gelid. More important, as JPM points out, is the mount.

I've mentioned before that the cooler was probably not mounted correctly hence a big shift in temps.

I REALLY hope there isn't something wrong with the card, i suppose even if there is a waterblock would likely fix it as i can't imagine it being anything other than the COOLER causing that kind of issue, but still...

You put too much. Spread thin and even.

I was getting 75-80c on my top card, now 65/66c. I don't put too much and I use the spatula. A little bit and thin.

That is not what I am saying. A 10* variance between stock and a high-end tim is not at all uncommon.

Got anything to prove a 10 degree difference between Nvidia's stock TIM and "high end TIM"? I need consistent results and not just hearsay.

Putting my finger on the fan to slow it down reduces the noise. It's absolutely ATROCIOUS sounding, worse than any coil whine etc.. i've ever heard. what could possibly cause this? It's not like i took the damn fan apart!!

i know what you did... its the cable that connects to power the LED its probably inside the fan chamber... open it again and fix that once you put it back move the fan with ur hand to make sure its out of the way.

What's a parcel motel? smile.gif I presume you ordered to that "parcel motel" in UK and shipped to yourself from there? Which one?

Your results are great so I'm willing to postpone buying hybrid cooling for the time being and try repasting first. My only concern is that there are reports of damage done to heatsink/retension system by some people who improperly tried to remove it in this generation of cards.

Any tips to avoid said damage? For example do I need a certain type of tool/screwdriver?
