There is definitely potential for a modded BIOS in the future. Most hardware reviews are finding a solid 2100Mhz & 1.25V cap on the GPU overclock, even on water. I find this a bit odd as the GTX1080s have been able to be pushed up past 2100Mhz on air and 2800Mhz on LN2.

I've read that as well and believe the bios is set to be very conservative. I guess when you're selling a $1200 card with a 3 year warranty you want to play it smart as well lol

If a custom bios gets gets us another 500mhz on water that would be beastly.

No its not odd the 1080 also nearly all go unstable at around 2100 the pascal chips seem to behave all the same...

1.25v is a limit placed at resistor level to stop users from damaging the cards. This has been in force since the 780Ti on all Nvidia and partner boards manufactured by Flextronics

I too have been using SLI since 8800 series. In some rare exceptions, like Witcher 3, SLI can shine. But there have been tens if not hundred games I have actually already finished before SLI worked with those games. On the other hand I have no trouble playing graphics-intensive games like Witcher 3 and immediately after that finish an indie adventure with 320x240 graphics. It only matters if the game is good or not. I say going SLI with Maxwell Titan Xs for Witcher 3 was worth it. Don't know if the same is true anymore as I have to check my unfinished games list. biggrin.gif

We don't even have voltage control in AB yet though?

So I guess all our TXP's are running lower volts than 1.25v at the moment.

Pulling this from memory, but I think 1.06 or 1.08 is around where we are capping atm.

Those 2800mhz 1080's are Frankensteined up with a second PCB soldered to directly control the chips power, allowing a ton more voltage to be dumped into it with LN2 cooling.

980 TI BIOS edit opens up 1.275v? Oh -- Flextronics.

LOL. You are hoping and dreaming way too much there my friend. Best anyone should hope for is a couple hundred MHz on the Titan.
