ugh... only using 2 cards ... i have some kinda baby system now!
I think the last time i had less than 3 cards in my system was sometime in 2011!!

now for project two.. capturing high quality game play at 4K 60fps. i have 3 NVMe drives (system, game, and capture drive) - dxtory using MagicYUV.. then x264 it for 10 hours.. (then have youtube murder the quality smile.gif )
The main problem @ 60 fps is the HD can't write fast enough for lossless RGB 4:4:4:4

i just picked up the OCZ 400 1TB (my other drivers are intel 750 1.2TB and the 950 pro). expect some random witcher 3 video!! smile.gif

750 should handle a lot - 1.2Gbps. That should amount as enough for 60Hz 1080 at 8-bit and some room left....

I once tried the same with my i7-990X during the winter and idle temps went to -7c in RealTemp. I guess it was almost freezing at that time too...heh.

uh-huh.....

only -17C....

"almost freezing" he says... rolleyes.gif

Speaking of fast stuff. Anyone read the article about that new crazy 100GB/s PCi-e 4.0 x16 device? PCI-e 4.0 just got announced which is likely coming to Z270 boards, so that'd be an interesting combo. I'll have to see if i can find the article again; just read it yesterday.

EDIT: Found it. http://videocardz.com/63305/pci-express-4-0-to-arrive-next-year. Edited some typo's/errors too. It was a 100Gb/s NIC, rather than a 1000Gb/s storage drive like i originally thought, my bad. Still interesting though.

i think you missed the part with the 4k smile.gif

the OCZ 400 NVMe has faster write than the intel - i'm still bumping into "(!) disk" warnings but it isn't to bad. I still take like a 20+ FPS hit.. but it is mostly over 60 when cap'n.
review of the SSD (OCZ name was bought by Toshiba) : http://www.thessdreview.com/featured/ocz-rd400-nvme-ssd-review-256gb512gb1tb/

but 4k cap'n lossless is about 200+gigs every 5min (with magicyuv) then over an hour to encode for every 5min... after encoded it is about 3.5gigs for every 5min. (i have this odd feeling that one can't tell the diff once it is on youtube. thoughts? crappy geforce exp capture look the same as doing it the "right" way?)

Have your ever tried using Bandicam? That’s what I record my 4K60fps footage with only a 7200RPM HDD. It doesn’t look like uncompressed footage but its pretty damn close with much more reasonable file sizes. I do hour long game walkthroughs on YouTube so it’s really the only option I have with the 150GB or so upload limit.

I have also been messing around with 8K footage and managed to upload a video to YouTube but then they disabled it frown.gif

Alright, I've caved

This whole, tiny screw into a hex bolt is quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever seen. Seriously.

Not bad temps though, and that 2100mhz is 100% flat line, game stable :-D

I did, yes. Sorry. Doesn't Shadowplay compress on-the-fly?
shadowplay looks real bad.. but it might not matter after YT screws it up real good smile.gif Just 5min of 4k@60 x264 encoding takes me an hour (on a 10 core CPU @ 4.5ghz)

Yup. It bounces between that and 34. I have a 480mm Monsta in front of the card.
