With blocks and a modified bios, best I can expect is another 10% performance, which is ok for 120Hz gaming at 1440p, but ends up being shy of 144-165Hz. If only the Titan XP was a full 610mm2 die like GP100. That extra 30% would have been amazing. I do like the simplicity of 2-card SLI. And much happier with heat management as a result.

Ah well. Here's hoping for 600mm2 Volta with HBM2 next year.

being on how minor increasing mem speed is on game performance. I'm not holding my breath or even caring about HBM2 smile.gif

Just want it for the reduction in heat and power draw. More overclocking headroom.

I've been doing some tests to see if two highly clocked Titan-XP would be enough for 4K @ 120 FPS/Hz as I feel that will be the benchmark in 2017 and beyond. 4K @ 120 FPS/Hz is 67% more demand than 3440x1440 @ 120 Hz. Basically, barring any CPU limits, I need enough GPU horsepower to push 3440x1440 at 200 FPS to simulate the load of 4k @ 120 Hz since I am currently without a 4K monitor at this moment.

Many games I can reach it, but many AA titles two Titan-XP isn't enough without turning settings down. What stinks is that the upcoming 4K @ 120 Hz displays won't be G-Sync, so you would preferably want even a larger buffer than a G-Sync display over and beyond to keep that FPS min good. I think Volta next year will be the first true 4K @ 120 Hz capable AAA title SLI setup.

Ok, somewhat paranoid post coming up.

On opening day (Aug 2nd I think), I ordered what I thought were 2 x Titan X (Pascals) to replace my current 2 x Titan X (original/maxwell) set up.

I've been sitting on them, still in the boxes, since they arrived as I was waiting for my EK water blocks to show up. The water blocks are due to arrive today so I opened up one of the Titan X boxes just to check it out.

Im looking at it thinking "it looks cool" and then I see the green GEFORCE stuff on it and thought "didn't nvidia drop the geforce thing for the Pascal model..."

PIC:

And now Im super paranoid and searching for pics of the Titan X Pascal vs the original Titan Xs. I cant compare my original Titan X's to my new cards because mine are under EK water blocks and I didnt save the original air coolers when I installed them. So I cant see does the original titan X cooler look exactly like my Titan X (P) ones.

The part number on the new card's backplate reads 900-1G611-2500-000 which when I google it, the top hits are coming up as the Pascal version:
2016 Nvidia Titan X (Pascal Architecture) 900-1G611-2500-000

DSC_1084.jpg

Just like with the water block issue, I cant compare the part number of my original Titan X's because I have EK backplates on them and didnt save the original OEM backplates (why dont I save this stuff!?!)

I paid for them via PayPal but the charge reads:
Seller info
DigitalRiver US Inc
952-646-5037
http://www.digitalriver.com
atlanticpaypalcs@digitalriver.com

And now Im on the nvidia store order history page, and this order is NOT showing up in my order history. I didnt use a different email address than my nvidia one when I placed the order.

Can someone here confirm their Titan X (P) OEM cooler has the green GEFORCE GTX logo on it?

Does your card look like this:

I dont want to tear apart my 2 x new cards and put the blocks on them today if they actually aren't real!

Thanks for helping out a paranoid member!

Looks like your paranoya hindered your google skills. Its well known the new titan kept the Geforce on the card. Its all fine ... You can relax. The old Titan X btw only has the name Titan on it as far as I recall..

Yes, mine and all the TXPs look like yours.

Thx guys. Im a US expat working in China so I'm sprung to immediately scream SCAM SCAM when I have the slightest strange feeling. (I bought the cards while I was back in the States on vacation).

The new blocks should show up today.

Any chance you have links to any game benches comparing the two? Would be very curious to see. Off the top of my head the 2xxx xeons will have a locked multiplier, so the only way to overclock one would be through the bus.

For any application that uses an unlimited number of threads, yes, it will be better. It's vastly superior to the 5960x for raw compute performance. But it should be substantially worse in comparison to the 5960x for gaming.
